One of the most common forms of demons are the massive and physically imposing. They use brute force to achieve their goals, relying on their immense size and strength to overpower their enemies. They are typically depicted as hulking beasts, with horns, claws, and fangs that are capable of tearing through even the toughest armor.

Finally, there are the elemental demons, which embody the raw power of the elements themselves. They are often depicted as massive, elemental forces, wielding the power of the elements to wreak havoc and destruction upon their enemies. They are often seen as the forces of nature personified, with the ability to summon storms, create earthquakes, or unleash the fury of the flames.
Players can encounterthem in a variety of different ways. They may face off against legions in battles, fighting to defend themselves and their party from their malevolent intentions. Alternatively, they may encounter them as powerful and influential leaders in the Lower Planes, known as Demon Lords. Students of the arcane have catalogued at least as many different forms of their kind as layers of the Abyss itself. Complicating matters, demonkind often exhibit numerous physical variants that nonetheless share a common racial lineage. Few adventurers examining the remains of a vulture-headed vrock and an alluring succubus would conclude that both share a heritage, but indeed both are demons, the largest and most politically dominant group in the Abyss.
They are a race of creatures native to chaotic evil-aligned planes. They are ferocity personified and will attack any creature just for the sheer fun of it-even other demons.
Demon Traits: Most possess the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).
- -Immunity to electricity and poison.
- -Resistance to acid 10, cold 10, and fire 10.
- -Summon (Sp): Many share the ability to summon others of their kind (the success chance and type of summoned are noted in each monster description). They are often reluctant to use this power until in obvious peril or extreme circumstances.
- -Telepathy.
Except where otherwise noted, they speak Abyssal, Celestial, and Draconic.
