Nuada Airgetlám — Silver-Handed King of the Túatha Dé

Nuada Airgetlám is the king whose missing hand almost cost him his people. A silver replacement saved his strength but not his throne; another healer later gave him flesh again. He understands better than most gods that a ruler’s body can become a nation’s argument. His blade from Findias can bring a battle to an end—if he chooses to draw it.

Nuada in the World
Nuada is neither a remote symbol nor a faultless king. Mortals who have lost a limb, a home or a position of trust find him a difficult but compelling patron. He knows what it means to return and discover that the world has learned to live without him. His hall receives wounded veterans, leaders who have failed their households and craftspeople who make a broken thing useful again.
At Tara, an oath sworn over a silver hand asks whether a ruler can protect people who cannot protect themselves. The rite is known among a small circle of the god’s priests in the campaign; it is not claimed as a documented medieval religious practice. Nuada demands plain answers to uncomfortable questions. His judgement is firm, but he listens when a petitioner offers a better way to repair a wrong.
Silver, Flesh and the Throne
In Cath Maige Tuired, Sreng of the Fir Bolg cuts away Nuada’s hand in the first battle. The divine physician Dian Cécht, with the craftsman Crédne, fashions a moving replacement of silver. Nuada cannot rule while physically blemished, and Bres is made king. Later Dian Cécht’s son Miach restores Nuada’s own hand with living flesh, after which the king can return to power. Their disagreement becomes a tragedy: Dian Cécht kills his son. Nuada remembers both healers, and his priests refuse to confuse a flawless prosthesis with the healing of a person’s life.
Nuada’s sword is one of the four treasures brought by the Túatha Dé from their legendary cities. It comes from Findias, and an enemy cannot escape its drawn blade. Lugh’s spear comes from Gorias and the Dagda’s cauldron from Murias. Calling them all interchangeable weapons of light mistakes the stories.
The oldest tales also tell of Nuada falling in battle before Balor, a fate remembered in song and lament. In the campaign, the Silver-Handed King’s power is still felt in the courts and places where the Túatha Dé gather. His reputation includes both victories and the cost of defeat.
Those Closest to Him
Dian Cécht is no gentle court physician: his skill saved Nuada, and his anger destroyed Miach. Goibhniu and the other divine craftsmen know what can be rebuilt in metal but not in memory. Lugh is the many-skilled champion Nuada respects, while the Dagda cares first for the company that must survive the war. The Morrígan carries battle’s terrible consequences rather than serving as his household herald.
Meeting the Silver-Handed King
Nuada asks first who has been harmed and what a petitioner is prepared to restore. He is courteous to craftsmen and wounded fighters, intolerant of rulers who cast away useful people, and wary of anyone who claims kingship as a reward for personal beauty. He can accept a clever answer from someone beneath his station. He rarely offers a reward before learning whom it will hurt.
Adventures
The Hand That Will Not Close
In Meath, a silver prosthesis made for a wounded captain begins moving in his sleep. Its maker says the hand follows Nuada’s design; the captain fears it is trying to draw a weapon against his own household. An apprentice of Crédne knows why the hand responds to a broken vow. Repair the vow, sever its enchantment or persuade the captain to acknowledge the person he harmed.
Miach’s Missing Remedy
A healer working near the Boyne has recovered one plant named in Miach’s lost healing art. Agents of a jealous temple demand it, while a fever threatens several families. The remedy may save the sick, but destroying the original would prevent anyone learning its limits. Guard the healer, negotiate access to the garden or carry the knowledge to Dian Cécht himself.
The Sword Must Stay Sheathed
A Fomorian war band has captured a village to lure Nuada into drawing his sword from Findias. The villagers fear the battle will destroy their houses even if Nuada wins. Rescue the captives, turn the enemy commander against Balor, or bring Nuada a victory won without the blade he is expected to use.

Divine Traits
Divine Immortality. Nuada neither ages nor requires air, food or sleep; destroying his manifested body does not by itself erase the god. Legendary Resistance (5/Day). Nuada can choose to succeed on a failed save. Magic Resistance. He has Advantage on saving throws against magical effects.
King’s Defence. Allies of his choice within 60 feet gain a +2 bonus to AC while Nuada is not Incapacitated. This bonus ends when they leave the aura; it does not stack with another instance of King’s Defence.
Silver-Handed Physician. When Nuada restores hit points to another creature with a spell or feature, that creature may immediately end one effect imposing Frightened or Poisoned on it. This does not end a disease, curse, or other condition not named here.
Personal Divine Spellcasting
Charisma is his spellcasting ability (save DC 29; spell attack +21). He casts without spell slots or Material components, following each spell’s normal action, other components, duration, target and Concentration rules; he can concentrate on only one spell at a time. Daily uses replenish after a Long Rest. His clerics do not gain his personal uses.

Actions
Multiattack. Nuada makes three Sword of Findias attacks.
Sword of Findias. Melee Attack Roll: +25 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 37 (4d10 + 15) Slashing damage plus 27 (6d8) Radiant damage. This includes the sword’s +3 enhancement.
No Escape from the Blade (Recharge 5–6). Nuada sweeps his sword in a 60-foot cone. Creatures of his choice make a DC 29 Dexterity saving throw, taking 66 (12d10) Radiant damage on a failure or half on a success. A failed save also prevents the target using Reactions until its next turn begins.
Restore the Fallen (3/Day). Nuada touches a willing living creature, restoring 65 (10d12) Hit Points and ending one of the following conditions: Blinded, Deafened, Paralyzed or Poisoned. It cannot return dead creatures to life.
Bonus Action
Silver King’s Advance. Nuada moves up to 25 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. One willing ally within 30 feet may also move 10 feet without provoking them.
Reaction
Turn Aside the Blow. When Nuada or an ally within 15 feet is hit by an attack roll Nuada can see, he grants +5 AC against that attack, potentially causing it to miss.
Legendary Actions — Four Uses
At the end of another creature’s turn, Nuada may spend uses to take one option; four uses refresh at the start of his turn. He cannot take legendary actions while incapacitated.
- Sword Strike (1). One Sword of Findias attack.
- Silver Step (1). Move 25 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
- The King’s Protection (2). One ally within 60 feet gains 30 Temporary Hit Points and may end being Frightened.
- Findias’s Radiance (3). Up to three enemies within 60 feet make a DC 29 Constitution saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) Radiant damage on a failure or half on a success.
Estate — The Hall of the Silver Hand
Within Nuada’s own otherworld court, on Initiative Count 20 (losing ties), he takes one estate action: Shield Wall—three allies within 60 feet gain 20 Temporary Hit Points; Shining Paths—a 40-foot-square area becomes Bright Light and cannot conceal Invisible creatures until the next count 20; or Royal Command—three willing allies move half their Speed without provoking opportunity attacks. The same estate action cannot be used in consecutive rounds.
Clerics, Domains and Granted Spells
The War Domain is the primary 2024 cleric option; Life offers healing and restoration. The campaign’s separate Silver Hand Domain grants these always-prepared spells: at cleric level 3, Bless, Shield of Faith, Aid, Warding Bond; level 5, Revivify, Beacon of Hope; level 7, Death Ward, Guardian of Faith; level 9, Greater Restoration, Mass Cure Wounds. This is one optional subclass, not extra grants for every War cleric.
Relics — 2024
Sword of Findias. Artifact longsword, +3 to attack and damage; on a hit it deals 3d8 extra Radiant damage. Once per Long Rest, the wielder can use an action to create a 60-foot line of silver light. Creatures of the wielder’s choice in it make a DC 21 Dexterity save, taking 45 (10d8) Radiant damage on a failure or half on a success. The sword does not automatically defeat immortality or all magical defences.
Silver Hand of Crédne. Artifact prosthesis, attunement by a creature missing a hand or forearm. It functions as a natural hand, grants +2 AC against one melee attack as a Reaction (three uses per Long Rest), and allows the bearer to cast Lesser Restoration once per Long Rest by touch without components. It is an original playable artifact based on the silver limb fashioned in the legend; Miach’s later restoration of Nuada’s own hand remains a separate story.

Clerics, Domains and Granted Spells
Nuada’s standard 2014 clerics may choose War or Life. An optional campaign Silver Hand Domain grants these pairs at cleric levels 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9: Bless / Shield of Faith; Aid / Warding Bond; Revivify / Beacon of Hope; Death Ward / Guardian of Faith; Greater Restoration / Mass Cure Wounds. The cleric receives its chosen domain’s normal features; Nuada’s innate daily uses never transfer automatically.

Special Abilities
Silver King’s Shield (Su). Allies Nuada chooses within 60 feet gain a +4 sacred bonus to AC; if a creature leaves the aura, this bonus ends. Silver Touch (Su). Whenever Nuada restores hit points with a healing effect, one healed target can immediately remove the shaken or sickened condition.
Sword’s Verdict (Su; recharge 1d4 rounds). A 60-foot cone of radiant cuts deals 12d8 damage to evil creatures (Reflex DC 45 half); a failed save also prevents attacks of opportunity for 1 round. This is an original good-aligned supernatural attack (Charisma-based), not normal channeled positive energy; creatures immune to positive energy are not automatically affected.
Warrior’s Restoration (Su; 3/day). As a standard action, Nuada touches one creature, restoring 10d8 hit points and removing paralysis or poison as neutralize poison (CL 30). This is not resurrection.
Blade of Findias (Su). On a confirmed critical hit with his sword, one evil outsider struck must succeed on a DC 45 Will saving throw or be staggered for 1 round. This is a mind-affecting effect; spell resistance applies.
Personal Spell-Like Abilities

Clerics select ordinary powers and one bonus domain spell per spell level from the chosen domains; Nuada’s personal spell-like uses do not transfer to them. The War domain’s level 1–9 bonus spells are magic weapon, spiritual weapon, magic vestment, divine power, flame strike, blade barrier, power word blind, power word stun, power word kill.
Relics — Pathfinder 1e
Sword of Findias. Major artifact, +5 holy longsword, size appropriate to bearer; deals an additional 3d8 positive energy damage to evil outsiders. Once/day it releases a 60-foot line, dealing 10d8 positive-energy damage to evil creatures (Reflex DC 25 half). Its enhancement bonus does not override other divine combat rules.
Silver Hand of Crédne. Major artifact prosthesis, sized to its wearer, that restores normal manipulation and grants a +2 shield bonus to AC (does not stack with an ordinary shield bonus); once/day casts lesser restoration at CL 20. It is distinct from Miach’s restoration of flesh.

Greater Deity Rules
Nuada adds his Divine Rank +16 to attacks, saves and relevant checks. His damage and Hit Dice are maximised according to greater-deity rules. A normal longsword hit against an evil foe deals 30 slashing plus 32 untyped divine damage (before criticals), and spell-like abilities use saving throw DC 37 + spell level (Charisma and divine rank included). Non-divine effects cannot permanently destroy him without meeting the campaign’s divine-death requirements.
Salient Divine Abilities

These are 21 original campaign selections for a Divine Rank 16 greater deity. Each referenced ability retains its native rules for prerequisites, range, timing, uses and action economy; they are not extra free actions every round.
Silver Hand (Su). A creature within 60 feet receives a +4 sacred bonus to AC while Nuada is conscious and willing. His sword’s light is supernatural and does not itself bypass all divine immunities. Findias’s Judgement (Su; 3/day). One evil enemy within 120 feet makes a DC 53 Fortitude save or takes 20d8 untyped divine damage (maximum 160 under greater-deity dice). On a success it takes half; spell resistance applies. This does not heal allies or resurrect a target.
Personal Divine Spell-Like Abilities

Each effect uses its proper D&D 3.5e casting time, spell resistance and duration, with no XP or costly Material component required unless the specific divine ability states otherwise. A spell-like ability normally takes a standard action. These abilities are separate from any caster-class slots and from the domain spells granted to worshippers.

Cleric Domains and Granted Spells
Nuada’s clerics choose two of the War, Protection, Healing or Good domains. The War domain’s 1st–9th-level bonus spells are magic weapon, spiritual weapon, magic vestment, divine power, flame strike, blade barrier, power word blind, power word stun, power word kill. Each domain also grants its own class feature; a cleric chooses and prepares its domain spells using the native 3.5e rules, not Nuada’s personal abilities.
Relics — D&D 3.5e
Sword of Findias. Major artifact, +5 holy longsword; three times/day its blade deals an additional 3d8 positive energy damage to an evil outsider on a hit. Once/day a 60-foot line deals 10d8 positive-energy damage to evil creatures (Reflex DC 25 half; caster level 20). Its existing holy weapon bonus is unchanged.
Silver Hand of Crédne. Major artifact prosthesis giving the bearer a fully functioning hand, a +2 shield bonus to AC that does not stack with another shield bonus, and lesser restoration once/day (caster level 20). It is a game artifact; the tale also tells how Miach restores Nuada’s own hand.
The Two Gifts of the Silver Hand

Crédne’s hand and Findias’s sword are distinct treasures: one restored Nuada’s usefulness to his people, the other made his judgement in battle terrible. The relic rules appear inside each edition above. They cannot replace the ordinary cost of recovery or make a mortal ruler flawless. Nuada does not reward those who maim another person to test them.
