Healing Domain

The Healing Domain turns healing, recovery, preservation of life, medicine and restoration into a cleric’s sacred practice and usable rules. Its exact mechanics depend on edition, so the published Pathfinder and 3.5e versions are kept separate rather than blended together.

Edition Applicability
D&D 5e/2014 and the 2024 rules use the official Life Domain rather than a same-named Healing Domain. This page does not invent a modern rules panel merely to fill an edition slot.
Healing Domain — Pathfinder 1e
Rules status: published Pathfinder 1e Core Rulebook domain.
Rebuke Death
As a standard action, touch a living creature below 0 hit points and heal it for 1d4 + 1 for every two Cleric levels. Uses per day equal 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Healer’s Blessing
At 6th level, your cure spells heal 50% more hit points as though empowered. This does not increase damage dealt to undead by cure spells and does not stack with the Empower Spell feat.

How the Healing Domain Plays
Healing clerics preserve action economy as much as hit points. Pathfinder’s Rebuke Death is specifically an emergency tool for a creature already below 0 hit points, while Healer’s Blessing makes cure magic scale more efficiently from 6th level onward.
Who Grants the Healing Domain?
Apollo, Asclepius, Brigid, Dian Cécht, Sekhmet are strong existing patrons where this sphere is established in the deity’s portfolio.
Priests, Temples and Rites
Healing cults can be medical, purificatory, martial, maternal or plague-focused. A temple of Asclepius should not feel identical to a cult of Sekhmet simply because both can restore the wounded.
What Are Healing Priests Doing Now?
Healing priests are treating battlefield wounds, managing outbreaks, training temple physicians, travelling where local medicine has collapsed and investigating injuries that resist ordinary magic because their cause is curse, poison, spirit or divine punishment.
