Darkseid (Uxas) is a fictional supervillain appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer-artist Jack Kirby, the character first made a cameo in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 in November 1970 before officially debuting in Forever People #1 in February 1971. He is the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips whose ultimate goal is to conquer the universe by eliminating all hope and free will in sentient beings. A New God and one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, Darkseid serves as a staple Superman villain and the archenemy of the Justice League.

The character was ranked as the 6th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time by IGN and as the 23rd Greatest Villain of All Time by Wizard magazine. Darkseid has been substantially adapted into various forms of media, most notably being voiced by Michael Ironside within the DC animated universe, by Andre Braugher in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, by Tony Todd in the DC Animated Movie Universe, and as the main antagonist in the final season of Smallville. After being referenced multiple times in the DC Extended Universe, he will make his feature film debut in Zack Snyder’s Justice League portrayed by Ray Porter through voice and motion capture.

Omega Beams: The Omega beams are the most destructive force known to the universe. Utilizing direct energy from the Source, this attack can wipe Darkseid’s foes out of existence itself. The beams require a ranged touch attack to connect (although Darkseid uses his Charisma modifier to make the attack roll) and have no limit on range. (A creature must be within Darkseid’s line of sight to be targeted. This can be through scrying.)

Unlike normal ranged touch attacks, the beams track their target. If they fail to connect the first round, another roll is made the following round, with a +2 bonus. This continues until Darkseid breaks off the attack or the beams find their target. For the purposes of movement, the beams can move 100,000 feet in a single round. The blasts ignore cover and shield bonuses to Armor Class, even if these would normally apply to touch attacks.

Destruction: The blast instantly eradicates a creature from existence unless a Fortitude save (DC 70) is made. Those who successfully save take 22d12 cosmic damage. Those within 5 feet of the destroyed creature take 1d12 cosmic damage. This is an intense action.

Harm: The blast deals 35d12 cosmic damage and stuns a foe for 1d6 rounds with a successful ranged touch attack. A successful Fortitude save (DC 70) negates the stun effect. This is a standard action. Darkseid may precisely control the amount of damage this attack deals and/or alter it to nonlethal damage, in order to prevent him from killing a foe with the attack.

Resurrection: The blast restores a creature to life that has been previously killed. This can even restore a creature destroyed by the Omega beams.

Teleportation: The blast instantly transports a creature to a location of Darkseid’s choosing unless a Will save (DC 70) is made. Those who successfully save are knocked prone. This attack can be used to imprison a creature within a spheric soul-prison. Darkseid may use the Omega beams to release a creature from this prison.

Spell-like Abilities:

At will –astral projection, create greater undead, deeper darkness, mage’s disjunction, fear (DC 51), feeblemind (DC 52), mass charm monster (DC 55), mass dominate monster (DC 57), project image, scrying, telekinesis (DC 52), vampiric touch.
