Edition Applicability

Choose one rules tradition. Pathfinder 1e uses the published Dragon subdomain of Scalykind; the D&D 3.5e panel preserves the separately published Dragon domain. The powers and spell progressions are distinct.

Dragon Subdomain — Pathfinder 1e

Published Pathfinder 1e subdomain of Scalykind.

Choose this subdomain in place of its parent when your deity grants both. You cannot also select the parent as your other domain. All retained powers and all nine domain spells are included here.

Venomous Stare (Sp)

As a standard action, make an active gaze attack against one creature within 30 feet. A failed Will save against DC 10 + half your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier deals 1d6 nonlethal damage plus 1 per two cleric levels and fascinates the target until your next turn begins. This is mind-affecting; daily uses equal 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Dragonbreath (Su)

This power replaces Serpent Companion. At 4th level, permanently choose acid, cold, electricity or fire. As a standard action, breathe a 15-foot cone dealing 3d6 damage, plus 1d6 at each even level beyond 4th. A Reflex save at DC 10 + half your class level + your Wisdom modifier halves the damage. Daily uses are one at 4th level, two at 9th and three at 14th.

How the Dragon Domain Plays

Pathfinder Dragon retains Scalykind’s gaze and replaces the animal companion with a scaling cone breath weapon. In D&D 3.5e, the domain supports a cleric who negotiates with dragons, strengthens natural weapons and survives elemental threats. Its upper-level spells become increasingly focused on draconic authority, perception and control rather than raw elemental damage.

Who Grants the Dragon Domain?

Use the domain for powers whose established portfolios genuinely centre on dragons or draconic sovereignty. Bahamut and Tiamat are established campaign patrons. These campaign associations do not change the Pathfinder rules source.

What Are Dragon Priests Doing Now?

Dragon-domain priests are negotiating tribute, investigating stolen eggs or relics, mediating between mortal rulers and ancient dragons, and tracking cults that claim draconic authority without the backing of any true dragon power.
