Fire Domain

The Fire Domain turns fire, flame, heat, burning, purification and elemental creatures of fire into a cleric’s sacred practice and usable rules. Its exact mechanics depend on edition, so the published Pathfinder and 3.5e versions are kept separate rather than blended together.

How the Fire Domain Plays
Fire is one of the most direct elemental domains. Pathfinder gives the priest reliable short-range fire and scaling resistance; both editions then open access to powerful area fire magic as levels rise.
Who Grants the Fire Domain?
Hephaestus, Vulcan, Vesta, Prometheus are strong existing site patrons where the relevant sphere is established in their portfolio. The domain should not be assigned solely because a deity has a superficial association with the same word or element.
Priests, Temples and Rites
Sacred fire may mean hearth, forge, sunlike radiance, purification, inspiration or catastrophe. Those are not interchangeable religious roles even when they use the same element. Temples, symbols and rites should therefore grow from the patron culture rather than from a generic domain template.
What Are Fire Priests Doing Now?
Fire priests are tending sacred flames, investigating destructive blazes, blessing forges and hearths, supervising controlled burns and confronting elemental fire that has escaped ritual or natural boundaries.
