Middle East — Timurid Roads, Kemet & the Ninefold Frontier
Western Asia is a collision zone of Timurid courts, Ottoman armies, Black Sheep Turkoman power, catfolk Kemet and the newly victorious hobgoblin Ninefold Dominion. Constantinople has fallen, but no single power has mastered the region that the conquest has destabilised.

The region is not the possession of a single empire. Earlier orc conquests broke older states and spread war across Iran and Iraq, but the great orc imperial order did not survive intact. Timur later imposed another vast military system, and his death again loosened the political map. What remains is a chain of powerful states and frontier zones, each trying to profit from the weakness of its neighbours without becoming the next target.
What Is Happening Right Now?
Timurid Iran remains a major court and military power, but the wider Timurid inheritance is divided. In Iraq, the Black Sheep Turks hold their own regional power. Across Anatolia, the Ottoman state is rebuilding strength and remains entirely separate from the hobgoblin power now occupying Constantinople.
The Ninefold Dominion seized Constantinople in 1453 using artillery, mining, naval pressure and disciplined assault. It has taken the city; it has not made the city obedient. Refugees, merchants, archives, soldiers and rival claimants continue to move through western Asia as every neighbouring ruler recalculates the value of alliance, neutrality and war.
To the south and west, ancient catfolk Kemet is not a newly created military regime. It is an established power defending Nile, Red Sea and Mediterranean interests through fortified ports, river craft, infantry, diplomacy and control of strategic routes. Kemet views the Ninefold Dominion as a direct threat to trade and sacred sovereignty.

Constantinople and the Ninefold Frontier
The fall of Constantinople is the event around which western politics now turns. The historical Ottoman conquest did not occur here: the Ninefold Dominion commands the city in the campaign present, while Ottoman rulers remain a rival human dynasty with their own armies and interests.
The conquest has not simplified the map. Roman people, law, archives and memory survive inside the occupied city. Venetian, Balkan, Ottoman, Kemetian and local interests overlap around it. No neighbour wants the Dominion stronger, but none wants a rival to gain too much from resisting it.
Roads, Artillery and Trade
Western Asia is crossed by roads that connect the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Iran, Central Asia, Arabia and the Indian Ocean. Caravan traffic matters because armies, courts and cities depend on the same routes used by merchants. A fortified pass or port can therefore become strategically important long before it becomes famous.
Gunpowder weapons are no longer curiosities. Bombards and handguns have changed siege warfare, while disciplined infantry and fortified positions decide whether those weapons can be brought close enough to matter. Artillery specialists, metalworkers and powder supplies are political assets in their own right.
Supernatural Authority
Human and nonhuman rulers share the region with older sacred claims, spirits, monsters and powers tied to mountains, deserts, rivers and ruined cities. Conquest changes tax collectors faster than it changes such obligations. A new governor can inherit a fortress without understanding the being to whom the previous ruler paid tribute beneath it.
Adventure Starts
- A refugee from Constantinople carries a legal document that three rival rulers want for entirely different reasons.
- A Timurid caravan has artillery components hidden among ordinary trade goods and several powers claim the cargo was stolen.
- Kemet hires neutral adventurers to determine whether a threatened Red Sea port is facing piracy, Dominion agents or a supernatural attack.
- An Ottoman commander and a Ninefold officer both present valid safe-conducts for the same mountain road.
- A ruined orc stronghold in Iraq has been reopened by people using weapons manufactured only months ago.
