Anti-Venom (Eddie Brock)

Anti-Venom is a fictional antihero appearing in Comic books published by Marvel Comics. It first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #569 (August 2008), and was created by Dan Slott and John Romita Jr. The creature belongs to a race of amorphous extraterrestrial parasites known as the Symbiotes and is regarded as Venom‘s symbiotic brother. His physical features include white “skin”, a black face, and spider symbol across his chest.

Alternate Form: The Anti-Venom suit can change the appearance of Brock’s face and clothing as per the change self spell. This provides Brock with a +10 bonus on Disguise checks. He is also able to blend into his surroundings like a chameleon, providing a +10 bonus on Hide checks and allowing him to use the Hide skill even while being observed.

Brock can also enlarge or stretch parts of his suit to augment his attacks. This increases his reach by 10 ft., gives him a +4 bonus on grapple checks, and allows him to deal bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage, as he chooses.

Impurity Sense: Anti-Venom can sense and identify foreign substances inside the bodies of any people within 30 feet. This includes diseases, narcotics, parasites, poisons, radiation, and symbiotes. His innate familiarty with these substances gives him a +10 insight bonus on Knowledge (biology) checks.

Internal Cleansing: Anti-Venom may cleanse foreign substances from the bodies of living creatures by touching them. Most diseases and drugs can be purged by one round of contact. Removing more complex substances (like radiation) requires several rounds of contact (1 per 5 HD possessed by the target).

Contact with Anti-Venom is harmful to other symbiotes. They take an additional 2d6 points of damage from his natural attacks, 4d6 points when grappling with him, and 10d6 points for each round he pins them. A symbiote reduced to 0 vitality points in this manner is destroyed.

Spider-Power Negation: Anti-Venom cannot be detected by Spider-Man’s early warning danger sense. In a combat with Anti-Venom, Spider-Man loses all bonuses it provides (though he does not suffer penalties as if it had been removed).

A failed attempt to “cure” Spider-Man of the foreign substances in his blood causes Spider-Man’s powers to be cancelled out when he is within 10 feet of Anti-Venom.

Superhuman Reflexes: Brock’s agility is amplified by his symbiote, and he is considered to have accelerated actions 1.

If Brock is the subject of any attack that allows a Reflex save for half damage, and is successful, he suffers no damage. If he fails his save, he takes half damage.

  • +8 bonus on Dexterity-based skill checks (and Jump checks).
  • +5 bonus on Reflex saves.
  • +5 bonus on Initiative checks.

Superstrength Level 3 (Ex):

  • +6 bonus on melee damage rolls.
  • +3 bonus on grapple and bull rush checks.
  • x8 lifting modifier.

Symbiotic Senses: The Anti-Venom suit provides Brock with 360-degree vision. He cannot be caught by surprise or caught flat-footed and is never considered flanked.

Brock possesses a full defense bonus due to early warning from the symbiote.

The symbiote can protect Brock’s eyes instantly, making him immune to attempts to blind him.

+10 insight bonus on Listen, Search, Sense Motive, and Spot checks.

Symbiotic Suit: When Mr. Negative cured Brock of his cancer, the remnants of the Venom symbiote in his body bonded with his white blood cells, creating a white symbiote under Brock’s control.

Brock’s suit protects him from injury when it covers his body. He gains a +6 natural armor bonus to AC, damage reduction 15/slashing and 5/–.

It also enhances his immune system and accelerates his recovery, giving him a +10 bonus to Fortitude saves and fast healing 40.

Wall Crawling: Anti-Venom is able to cling to any surface, as with Spider Climb, as long as at least two of his limbs are in contact with it. He receives a +12 bonus on all Climb and grapple checks.

Webbing: Anti-Venom can shoot webbing up to 250 feet. This requires a Strength check of DC 30 to break up to one round after being fired. After that time, it requires a Strength check of DC 45 to break.

Notes: Unlike Venom, Anti-Venom is not weak to heat or noise.
