Blue Devil

Blue Devil (Daniel Cassidy) is a fictional character, a superhero featured in material published by DC Comics. He first appeared in a special insert published in Fury of Firestorm #24 (June 1984). That story led directly into Blue Devil #1, also cover dated June 1984. He was created by Dan Mishkin, Gary Cohn, and Paris Cullins. The Blue Devil comic book ran for 32 issues with Blue Devil later appearing as a regular character in Shadowpact that ran for 25 issues.
Dan Cassidy was working as a stuntman and special effects specialist in Hollywood when he created the Blue Devil full body suit, complete with a built in exoskeleton, specifically designed for the Blue Devil movie being produced by Verner Brothers Studios.
During filming on The Blue Devil, the demon Nebiros was accidentally unleashed from within an ancient temple and, thinking Cassidy was an actual demon, tried to drain his demonic powers with blasts of magic. Instead, the blasts permanently bonded the suit to Cassidy. This unnatural fusion of magic and technology caused Cassidy to experience unusual events and draw the attention of otherworldly beings, a condition known in occult circles as a “weirdness magnet”.
Horrified at the prospect of being stuck in the suit forever, Cassidy sought ways to separate himself from it, becoming a reluctant superhero along the way.
Cassidy was eventually transformed into an actual demon after making a deal with the demon Neron. Regretting the deal, Blue Devil decided to fight occult evil, often alongside the other members of Shadowpact.
Cassidy’s original trident was a mechanical device that he designed himself but, after being turned into an actual demon, he acquired the magical “Trident of Lucifer” to help combat demons.
Blue Devil appeared in episodes of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon as well as a brief appearance in the Young Justice show. Cassidy was played by Ian Ziering in the television series Swamp Thing for DC Universe.

Daring (Ex): Even before becoming the Blue Demon, Daniel was a proficient acrobat, stuntman and martial artist. He benefits from this expertise in several ways.
- Unarmed damage as a monk of half his HD.
- fighter feats as a fighter of half his HD.
- Light Defense.
- Evasion.
- 4+Intelligence skill points per HD.
- +2 competence bonus to Balance, Climb, Jump and Tumble checks.
Demonic Blood (Su): Blue Devil was turned into a demon. He can use evil aligned items without penalty and he is immune to fire and unholy damage.
However, he is considered to be evil when targeted by effects that deal more damage to evil beings and he takes an extra 50% from holy damage. He also takes 2 points of damage for every round he spends in consecrated or holy ground.
Magic Sense (Su): Blue Devil can Detect Magic at will, like the spell.
Superstrength Level 1 (Ex):
- +2 melee damage bonus.
- +1 bonus on grapple and bull rush checks.
- Lift capacity x2.
Skills: Blue Devil has a +4 bonus to Intimidate, Listen and Spot checks.
Possessions:
Lucifer’s trident: Blue Devil wields Lucifer’s trident, the greatest weapon of Hell. It is a +6 unholy power fiery blast cold iron trident. It automatically bypasses damage reduction of any demon it strikes. As a standard action, the wielder can use the trident to banish any demon within 90 ft. back into Hell. Targeted creatures can’t apply Spell Resistance against this effect, but a successful DC 31 Will save negates the banishment. Any demon of archfiend status or greater is immune to this banishment.
The wielder of the trident automatically becomes aware of the presence, general direction and power level of any demon within 1 mile of him.
