Appearance: The Fiendish Kraken is a monstrous aquatic behemoth, its massive form shrouded in an otherworldly darkness. Its enormous body, easily spanning over a hundred feet, is covered in leathery, infernally-tainted skin that glows with an eerie, malevolent energy. Sinister, luminescent runes writhe across its surface, pulsating with each beat of its colossal, blood-red eyes.

The Kraken’s tentacles are nightmarish appendages, each one tipped with razor-sharp, obsidian-like barbs that drip with an otherworldly ichor. These limbs writhe with chaotic energy, giving them an unsettling, unpredictable movement. As the Fiendish Kraken moves, it leaves a trail of sulfurous mist and demonic whispers in its wake.

A palpable aura of malevolence surrounds the Fiendish Kraken, manifesting as an ethereal, flickering flame that dances around its immense form. This demonic energy twists the surrounding water, creating an ominous, swirling vortex beneath the creature.

The Fiendish Kraken’s presence is an affront to the natural order, a manifestation of abyssal power that corrupts the very essence of the sea. Its monstrous visage strikes terror into the hearts of sailors and denizens of the deep, an unholy force lurking beneath the waves.

Behavior: A relentless force of chaos, the Fiendish Kraken revels in destruction and subjugation. It exhibits a cunning and strategic mind, using its supernatural powers to sow fear among sailors and coastal settlements. While territorial and fiercely protective of its abyssal lair, it is also drawn to places where the boundaries between dimensions weaken.

Habitat: The Fiendish Kraken dwells in the darkest abyssal trenches, its lair a cavernous underwater abyss infused with demonic energies. It occasionally surfaces in turbulent waters, leaving a wake of devastation in its path. Rumors persist of ancient underwater temples where cults worship and summon these demonic leviathans.

Modus Operandi: Employing its vast, tentacled reach and supernatural abilities, the Fiendish Kraken terrorizes seafaring vessels. It drags ships beneath the waves, feeding on the souls of those unfortunate enough to encounter it. The beast often forms unholy alliances with aquatic demons, creating a nightmarish coalition to wreak havoc on the mortal realms.

Motivation: Driven by an insatiable thirst for chaos and dominance, the Fiendish Kraken seeks to expand its infernal influence over the mortal realm. It harbors a deep-rooted hatred for the gods of the sea and their divine champions, desiring to usurp their dominion and establish itself as a malevolent deity of the abyssal depths.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the Fiendish Kraken fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. The Fiendish Kraken has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Infernal Aura. Creatures within 30 feet of the Fiendish Kraken must succeed on a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Siege Monster. The Fiendish Kraken deals double damage to objects and structures.


Multiattack. The Fiendish Kraken makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its tentacles.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 32 (4d10 + 9) piercing damage.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (3d8 + 9) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 22). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained.

Infernal Gaze. Ranged Spell Attack: +13 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 45 (6d10 + 6) psychic damage.


Legendary Actions

The Fiendish Kraken can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The Fiendish Kraken regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Tentacle Attack. The Fiendish Kraken makes one tentacle attack.
  • Infernal Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). The Fiendish Kraken uses its Infernal Gaze.
  • Dark Abyss (Costs 3 Actions). Magical darkness spreads from the Fiendish Kraken in a 60-foot radius sphere until the end of its next turn. The darkness spreads around corners and extinguishes non-magical light sources in that area.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Ink Cloud (Ex)   A kraken can emit a cloud of black, venomous ink in an 80-foot spread once per minute as a free action while underwater. This cloud provides total concealment, which the kraken can use to escape a fight that is going badly. Creatures within the cloud are considered to be in darkness. In addition, the ink is toxic, functioning as contact poison against all creatures caught within it. The ink cloud persists for 1 minute before dispersing. The save DC against the poison effect is Constitution-based. Kraken Ink: Ink cloud-contact; save Fort DC 29; frequency 1/round for 10 rounds; effect 1 Strength damage plus nausea; cure 2 consecutive saves.

Jet (Ex) A kraken can jet  backward as a full-round action, at a speed of 280 feet. It must move in a straight line, but does not provoke attacks of opportunity while jetting.

Rend Ship (Ex) As a full-round action, a kraken can attempt to use four of its tentacles to grapple a ship of its size or smaller. It makes a CMB check opposed by the ship’s captain’s Profession (sailor) check, but the kraken gets a cumulative +4 bonus on the check for each size category smaller than Gargantuan the ship is.

If the kraken grapples the ship, it holds the ship motionless; it can attack targets anywhere on or within the ship with its tentacles, but can only attack foes on deck with its free arms and can’t attack foes at all with its beak. Each round it maintains its hold on the ship, it automatically inflicts bite damage on the ship’s hull.

Tenacious Grapple (Ex) A kraken does not gain the grappled condition if it grapples a foe with its arms or tentacles.
