Ostara Subdomain

Spring renewal representing the Ostara Subdomain

The Ostara Subdomain is a Pathfinder 1e-compatible form of Healing built around rebirth, new beginnings and the returning light of spring. It keeps Rebuke Death, replaces Healer’s Blessing with Secrets of Life and changes most of the parent domain’s spell list.

Ostara Subdomain — Pathfinder 1e

Rebuke Death (Sp)

As a standard action, touch a living creature below 0 hit points to heal 1d4 + 1 per two cleric levels. You can use this ability 3 + your Wisdom modifier times per day.

Secrets of Life (Su)

This replaces Healer’s Blessing. At 8th level, when using this ability you cast conjuration spells as though your caster level were 1 higher and your Wisdom score 2 higher. At 16th level these increases become +2 caster levels and +4 Wisdom. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to half your cleric level.

How the Ostara Subdomain Plays

Ostara moves Healing away from simple efficiency and toward renewal. Its replacement spells offer foresight, radiant offence, reincarnation and mass healing, while Secrets of Life boosts conjuration magic at the moments when the cleric needs it most.

Brigid and Ostara

In the campaign, Brigid is associated with Ostara. The subdomain expresses healing as the return of life and momentum after winter, injury or loss.

Priests, Rites and Sacred Duties

Ostara priests bless new ventures, tend the injured, mark seasonal renewal and help communities begin again after hardship. Their rites favour recovery that leads back into action rather than passive preservation.
