Class Features

All of the following are class features of the actor prestige class.

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Actors gain no additional proficiency with any weapons or armor

Level Base Attack Bonus Fort Save Ref Save Will Save Special Spellcasting
1st+0+0+0+2Moving  Monologue+1 bard  level
2nd+1+1+1+2Feign Proficiency
3rd+2+1+1+3Pretend To Be+1 bard level
4th+3+1+1+3Impromptu Performance
5th+3+2+2+4Range of Emotions, Spotlight’s Splendor+1 bard level

Moving Monologue: They can give spellbinding performances. His actor levels stack with bard levels for attaining and determining daily uses of Fascinate, suggestion, and Mass suggestion when performed with ranks in Perform (Act). Actor levels do not stack with bard levels for Bardic Knowledge checks or other forms of Bardic Music. These are spell-like abilities.

Spellcasting [1st/3rd/5th level]: At the indicated levels, the actor gains spellcasting ability as if he had attained another level of bard.

Feign Proficiency [2nd level]: Work in the theatre requires the actor to convincingly wield props, including unfamiliar armor and weapons – to effectively portray a warlord, for example, he may need to skillfully wield a waraxe in heavy armor. A 2nd-level actor with at least 10 ranks in Perform (Act) can employ daily uses of Bardic Music to Feign Proficiency in a specific weapon, such as Scimitar or composite longbow, or specific armor type, such as scale mail or tower shield, allowing him to temporarily ignore any nonproficiency penalties.

The DC of the Perform (Act) check is equal to twice the maximum damage of the weapon or AC bonus of the armor, adjusted by the following factors (which stack): -2 for light weapons, +2 for two-handed weapons, +2 for ranged weapons, +2 for Heavy armor, +2 for Exotic armor, and +2 for Exotic weapons. The DC for full plate armor, for example, would be 18 (2 x 8 + 2); the DC for a bastard sword would be 22 (10 x 2 +2); and the DC for a light pick would be 6 (4 x 2 – 2).

If the actor fails the skill check, he cannot attempt a Feign Proficiency attempt on that item again that day. If he makes the skill check, he gains temporary proficiency with that item for 1 hour – the typical span of a theatrical performance. The actor can Feign Proficiency numerous times per day as long as he succeeds at the skill checks. Feigning Proficiency is an extraordinary standard action.

Pretend To Be [3rd level]: He can portray evil priests, sage-like wizards, and enthusiastic minstrels with equal skill – so in-character can he be that magic items can’t tell the pretense from reality. A 3rd-level actor with at least 11 ranks in Perform (Act) can utilize a daily use of Bardic Music to either substitute a Perform (Act) check for a Use Magic Device check or to add his actor level to any Use Magic Device check (whichever gives the greater benefit). This is extraordinary.

Impromptu Performance [4th level]: He can recite powerful soliloquies and moving reenactments at the drop of a hat despite distraction. He can Take 10 on Bluff checks and Perform (Act) checks as a standard action under any circumstances. This is extraordinary.

Range of Emotions [5th level]: His powerful performances can stir the gamut of emotions. A 5th-level actor with at least 13 ranks in Perform (Act) can utilize Bardic Music once per day to give a performance that manifests one of the following spells as cast by a bard of his caster level, chosen at the time of the performance (DC 10 + actor level + Charisma modifier): calm emotions, crushing despair, good hope, scare, or hideous laughter. This spell-like ability requires one full round.

Spotlight’s Splendor [5th level]: He thrives in the spotlight and when he is the center of attention. He receives a +2 inherent bonus to Charisma.
