Madame Rachel — Seller of Eternal Beauty

Madame Rachel sells what wealthy people fear they are losing: youth, attention, marriage prospects, influence and the belief that everyone else still envies them. Her London rooms smell of imported oils, crushed herbs, warm wax and expensive promises.
Some of Rachel’s treatments are ordinary cosmetics. Some are competent herbal preparations. A few are genuinely magical, purchased from suppliers she refuses to name. The fraud begins when she allows a client to believe that every improvement can be made permanent—provided they keep paying, keep returning and keep trusting her with increasingly private information.

What Is Madame Rachel Doing Right Now?
Rachel has acquired a small quantity of genuine glamour-infused cosmetic powder. Used carefully, it can soften scars and alter complexion for several hours. Used repeatedly, it causes vivid dreams, compulsive self-scrutiny and brief moments when mirrors show a different face from the one everyone else sees.
Rachel did not create the powder. She has already sold it to three wealthy clients and now wants the supplier found before any of them connect the side effects to her. Fanny Murray knows one of the clients. Damaris Page knows the servant who first delivered the powder.
Encounters
Rachel begins by making a visitor feel observed in a flattering way. She notices fatigue, damaged cloth, old scars, expensive perfume, worn jewellery and nervous glances at mirrors. She rarely lies immediately. She first tells enough truth to make the later lie feel earned.
Adventurers who arrive openly threatening her find ledgers missing, servants suddenly ignorant and clients unwilling to admit they ever visited.
Personality
Confident, persuasive and utterly attentive to insecurity, Rachel regards embarrassment as the strongest lock in London. She is less interested in beauty than in what people will pay to believe about themselves.
She dislikes crude blackmail. A frightened client pays once; a hopeful client returns every week.
Relationships
Fanny Murray: valuable source of society gossip and one of the few people Rachel cannot easily flatter.
Damaris Page: controls servants and private rooms Rachel sometimes needs; their relationship is businesslike and cautious.
Wealthy clients: Rachel’s greatest protection. Many would rather silence an accusation against her than admit why they sought her help.
Suppliers: apothecaries, herb merchants, alchemists and stranger sources of ingredients Rachel does not fully understand.

Historical Inspiration
Madame Rachel was a nineteenth-century London beauty entrepreneur and fraudster who sold costly promises of beauty and youth to wealthy clients. This campaign version converts that confidence business into fifteenth-century cosmetics, alchemy and low magic.
