Van Diemen’s Land is an island located to the south of the Australian mainland. It encompasses the main island and the surrounding 334 islands. The island is part of the Colony of New South Wales.

Settlments were first created as a penal clonies of the Kingdom of England.

The island was solely occupied by Aboriginals before colonisation. They are currently engaged in a combination of violent guerrilla conflict with settlers and intertribal conflict.
