The capital of Wallachia, the Royal Court has been constantly refurbished and extended. The compound is surrounded by stone walls and a moat and a new church and a tower had been built.

In 1454 Târgoviște is the political heart of a Wallachia already transformed by Vlad III Dracula’s unnatural return. Vlad is a vampire, his undead power is expanding against the Ninefold threat, and fear of his punishments hangs over court and town alike. He resents Hungarian pressure but is not waging war against the Empire. Later events known from ordinary history have not simply happened early here unless the campaign chronology says so.
