“The Corrupt and Malevolent Influence of the Brotherhood of Set”

Of all the gods who could be considered -mad,- none come as close as Set. His cult, the Brotherhood of Set, is in fact a very old organization of warlocks, wizards and witches. No female witches are ever permitted to join. The Warlocks, as expected, enjoy the rank of commanders of the cult. Even the lowest Warlock can have any number of mercenaries at his beck and call.

Because of their similarities, both in times of Sabbats and reverence of the snake symbol, many people mistakenly believe that the Mara is a female faction of the Brotherhood of Set. Nothing could be further from the truth and a great enmity exists between Brotherhood and the Mara.

Members: The Brotherhood has no set members for its covens, which are often called cults. There will be typically 2d4 Malefic, 1d6 Venefica, 1d6 Fire or Air Tempestarii, and 1d4 that are multiclassed Malefic/ Warlocks. The leader is known as the Grand Warlock. Unlike other witch covens, the membership of the Brotherhood of Set is also open to non-witches. These -outer lodge- members will be fighters, thieves or multiclassed Assassins. A -middle lodge-of evil wizards and clerics also exists to aid the witches and warlocks of the -inner lodge-.

As apparent by the name, this cult is open only to men. No woman may join.

• Traditions Supported: This coven if primarily made up of Malefic witches. There are some Venefica and Tempestarii as well.
• General Alignment: Members maybe of any Evil alignment.
• Patron: The patron is Set. There is no Goddess, since Set’s own wife, and Isis’s sister, Nephthys left him.
• Sabbaths and Rituals: Devotees of the Brotherhood of Set make human sacrifices on the night of the new moon. If humans are unavailable then large numbers of cats will be sacrificed instead. The members then dine on the roast corpses.
• Common Traits: The typical Brother is a savage thug, quite willing to murder to further his own goals. The atypical ones, however, are the most evil. The warlocks at the top of Set’s pyramid of followers are devious and evil to extreme. While lower members are content with snuffing out a life or two, the warlocks are only content with destroying whole cities. The Venefica/Warlocks brew dangerous poisons of snake venom. The Tempestarii/Warlocks likewise brew up terrible dessert storms.

The Brotherhood of Set is a male-only cult that worships the chaotic and destructive god, Set. Founded by warlocks, wizards, and witches, the Brotherhood is a secretive and ancient organization that is known for its savage brutality and disregard for human life. Only the male members are allowed to join, with the lowest-ranking warlocks having mercenaries at their disposal.

Apart from the warlocks, the Brotherhood also accepts fighters, thieves, and multiclassed assassins as “outer lodge” members. The organization’s inner circle is made up of malefic witches, Venefica, and Tempestarii who brew up dangerous poisons and storms. The Grand Warlock leads the group, aided by an “inner lodge” of evil wizards and clerics.

The Brotherhood of Set holds human sacrifices on the night of the new moon, and in their absence, they turn to sacrificing large numbers of cats. The members dine on the roasted corpses, and their devotion to Set is evident in their willingness to commit murder to further their goals. The Brotherhood is often at odds with the Mara, a female faction that is frequently mistaken for being part of the Brotherhood due to their reverence for the snake symbol.

Overall, the Brotherhood of Set is a ruthless and malevolent organization that prioritizes power and destruction above all else. They follow the principle that Set is destruction and power, and that power is the key to the future.
