Snow Troll: Terror of the Tundra
“Lurking in blizzards with bone-crushing strength and icy rage, the Snow Troll turns frozen wastelands into your final resting place!”

Towering over most humanoids at nearly 10 feet tall, the Snow Troll is a brute covered in matted white-blue fur that clumps with ice and gore. Its pallid, leathery skin beneath is thick and scarred from countless battles. Two yellow, sunken eyes glow with a feral intelligence, while a pair of jagged tusks jut from its snarling maw. Long, powerful limbs end in claws that can tear through frozen armor as easily as flesh. Its scent carries the copper tang of blood mixed with the bitter sting of permafrost.
Behavior:
Snow Trolls are savage and cunning predators. Unlike their swamp or cave-dwelling cousins, they stalk prey in calculated silence, using the storm and terrain as cover. They prefer ambushes, watching from high cliffs or dense snowfall before charging with terrifying speed. While solitary by nature, they occasionally hunt in loose matriarchal packs during severe winters.
Habitat:
These beasts haunt frozen mountain passes, glacier crevasses, and ancient tundra ruins. They favor natural caves or hollowed-out carcasses of massive beasts as dens, often decorated with bones, frozen trophies, and crude symbols scrawled in blood. Travelers often mistake the remains for ritual sites—until the snow starts to move.
Modus Operandi:
A Snow Troll thrives in the hunt. It isolates targets by using snowstorms and white-out conditions, picks off stragglers, then feasts. With regenerative abilities accelerated in freezing temperatures, the creature is notoriously hard to kill. It will retreat only if overwhelmed—but only to stalk its attackers for a more favorable strike.
Motivation:
Driven by primal hunger and territorial instinct, the Snow Troll is not merely a beast—it’s an apex predator shaped by cruelty and cold. Some scholars believe ancient curses or arcane experiments gave rise to this variant, granting it unnatural resilience and a deep hatred for warmth, fire, and life itself.

Traits
Icy Regeneration.
The Snow Troll regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn. If it takes fire or radiant damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of its next turn.
Snow Camouflage.
The Snow Troll has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks to hide in snowy terrain.
Predator’s Patience.
If the Snow Troll hasn’t moved since its last turn, it has advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature that enters its reach.
Keen Smell.
The Snow Troll has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Actions
Multiattack.
The Snow Troll makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with either its claws or a melee weapon.
Bite.
Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 17 (2d10 + 6) piercing damage.
Claw.
Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) slashing damage.
If both claw attacks hit the same target in one turn, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Crude Ice Greatclub (Weapon Variant).
Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 18 (2d12 + 5) bludgeoning damage plus 4 (1d8) cold damage.
The target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or have its speed halved until the end of its next turn as frost clings to its joints.
Chilling Roar (Recharge 5–6).
The Snow Troll emits a deep, echoing roar infused with unnatural cold.
Each creature of the Snow Troll’s choice within 30 feet that can hear it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened until the end of the Snow Troll’s next turn. While frightened in this way, a creature has disadvantage on saving throws against cold damage.
Avalanche Leap (Recharge 4–6).
The Snow Troll leaps up to 30 feet in a straight line and lands with explosive force.
Each creature within a 10-foot radius of the landing point must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) bludgeoning damage and falling prone on a failure, or half as much on a success. The area becomes difficult terrain due to churned snow and ice.
Bonus Actions
Snowbound Stalker (1/Turn).
If the Snow Troll is in snowy or icy terrain, it can take the Hide action as a bonus action and gains advantage on the Stealth check.
Tactics
The Snow Troll hunts using ambush and terrain advantage. It prefers to lie in wait beneath snowdrifts or behind ridges, striking with surprise and savagery. If wounded, it may retreat into snowfields or caves to recover with Icy Regeneration. In combat, it uses Chilling Roar to debilitate prey, Avalanche Leap to scatter clustered enemies, and targets frightened or prone creatures with brutal claw or club strikes.
Treasure
Snow Troll lairs are strewn with frozen corpses, shattered gear, and gnawed bones. A typical den contains 1d4 minor magic items, 1d6 × 100 gp worth of valuables, and cold-weather survival equipment.

DESCRIPTION
Snow trolls are towering, savage creatures of the frozen wilds, covered in thick blue-white fur matted with ice. Born of cursed bloodlines or glacial magic, they combine brutal strength with savage cunning. They wield massive ice-cracked weapons or use claws and bite to brutal effect, striking terror into travelers of arctic wastes.
Snow Troll

This tall, gangly humanoid stands nearly 8 feet tall. Its pale green skin is covered in snowy white fur. It moves swiftly over the snow on its broad, furry feet.

Snow trolls are generally solitary, coming together only during mating season every three years in the darkness of mid-winter in remote mountain valleys. The males abandon their mates to raise the young, which reach maturity in a single year. The young snow trolls are even more rapacious than the adults.
A snow troll’s territory may cover hundreds of square miles. Snow trolls feed on any creatures they can catch, even polar bears and other fierce arctic creatures. Only white dragons successfully predate upon snow trolls. Ice trolls and snow trolls are bitter enemies and competitors for the same hunting grounds.
A typical adult snow troll stands 8 feet tall and weighs 500 pounds. Females are slightly larger than males. A snow troll’s hide is pale green or pale gray, and is covered in white fur. Snow trolls have a lifespan of 120 years.
Trolls speak a dialect of Giant in a high-pitched, sing-song manner.
