Perception sharpens until hidden detail yields. Presence gathers enough force to sway a room. Thought grows quicker, endurance deeper, instinct keener.
Enhance Ability calls on primal, spiritual, divine, fey, or arcane force to heighten a creature beyond its natural limits, turning ordinary capability into something briefly extraordinary.
You invoke a chosen aspect of heightened capability, drawing on beast-force, ancestral favor, sacred blessing, elemental instinct, or refined arcane alteration to change how a creature meets the world.

Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (fur, feather, scale, or another token tied to the chosen aspect)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
Available To: Bard, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer
You touch a willing creature and grant it magical enhancement. Choose one of the following effects; the target gains that benefit for the duration:
- Bull’s Strength: Advantage on Strength checks, and the target’s carrying capacity doubles.
- Cat’s Grace: Advantage on Dexterity checks. The target also doesn’t take damage from falling 20 feet or less if it isn’t incapacitated.
- Bear’s Endurance: Advantage on Constitution checks. The target also gains 2d6 temporary hit points, which are lost when the spell ends.
- Eagle’s Splendor: Advantage on Charisma checks.
- Fox’s Cunning: Advantage on Intelligence checks.
- Owl’s Wisdom: Advantage on Wisdom checks.
When you cast this spell using a higher-level spell slot, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 2nd.

In many traditions, Enhance Ability is not known as a single unified spell at all. Enable Physical Feats Beyond Ordinary Limits
Lifting gates, forcing doors, climbing walls, swimming rivers, enduring marches, and crossing dangerous terrain all become more reliable when the right aspect is chosen.
Strengthen Social Pressure
Eagle’s Splendor: Negotiation, leadership, ritual speech, intimidation, and performance all become more forceful when presence itself is supernaturally heightened.
Sharpen Exploration and Survival
Owl’s Wisdom: Tracking, navigation, intuition, and practical awareness become far more dependable in dangerous or uncertain ground.
Fox’s Cunning: Investigation, recall, deduction, and pattern-reading all improve when thought itself is sharpened.
Support Precision and Movement
Cat’s Grace: Stealth, balance, traversal, acrobatics, and controlled movement all improve when the body becomes unnaturally fluid and exact.
Increase Durability
Bear’s Endurance: Staying power, resilience, and hardship tolerance all improve, making it especially valuable before known strain, danger, or attrition.
Raise the Weakest Link
This spell is often best used not on the strongest member of a group, but on the one most likely to fail the climb, the crossing, the negotiation, or the pursuit.
Tactics
Choose the aspect for the real obstacle. This spell rewards correct diagnosis more than dramatic use. Identify what will decide the scene, then heighten that.
Cast before the hinge moment. Enhance Ability is strongest when active before the climb, negotiation, search, chase, crossing, or ordeal begins.
Think in scenes, not rolls. With up to an hour of duration, this spell should shape a stretch of action rather than one isolated check.
Use it where quiet superiority matters. It is often strongest when the opposition never realizes magic helped at all.
Treat it as preparation magic. It works best with planning, terrain, timing, and good role assignment rather than as a desperate patch after failure.
Remember the family structure. In world terms, some cultures may never speak of Enhance Ability itself. They may know only Cat’s Grace, Bull’s Strength, or another named expression.

Pass without Trace: Enhances group infiltration by improving capability while also suppressing evidence of passage.

Under Bear’s Endurance, fatigue lands but does not bite as deeply. Under Fox’s Cunning, connections appear more quickly. Under Owl’s Wisdom, signs feel sharper and instincts truer. Let the duration matter. This spell should affect a stretch of journey, negotiation, pursuit, ritual work, or dangerous approach, not merely one momentary test.
Use the family structure in worldbuilding. A court wizard might know Eagle’s Splendor by name but never speak of Enhance Ability. A druid circle may teach only beast-aspect expressions. A giant cult may preserve stronger descendants of Bull’s Strength. A martial faith may maintain mass castings for chosen champions or holy companies.
That makes this magic feel historical, regional, and alive.
Why This Spell Is Dangerous in the World
Enhance Ability is dangerous because it makes creatures capable of succeeding where they should normally fail.
Its scope is personal or small-group, not vast. But that is enough. A single casting can let someone climb where they should slip, endure where they should collapse, persuade where they should be dismissed, notice what should remain hidden, or carry what should be impossible.
These are not cataclysmic effects. They are outcome-changing effects.
A guard is convinced.

A witness notices the one clue that matters.
