Greater Eagle’s Splendor — Extended Charisma Spell

A noblewoman addresses a court beneath the wings of a luminous eagle spirit

Transmutation · Extended Charisma · Community spell

A besieged city’s herald speaks before hostile commanders. By sunrise the negotiations have ended, but the magical poise that held the hall has not faded.

The Voice That Holds a Hall

The subject carries an uncanny authority without changing their face or clothing. Words land with a little more force, an uncertain performer finds their voice, and a frightened envoy can address a hostile council without losing composure. The magic improves Charisma; it does not force an audience to agree, remove a person’s judgement or make an obvious lie true.

Its defining advantage is duration. A negotiation, a long religious ceremony or a perilous performance may outlast the ordinary spell’s minute-per-level limit. A creature with a natural gift for leadership can use the extra time to accomplish something worthwhile—or to manipulate those who trust it.

Rules by Edition

Greater Eagle’s Splendor — D&D 2024

Published equivalent: Enhance Ability, Level 2 Transmutation. No official spell named Greater Eagle’s Splendor.
Casting Time: Action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (fur or a feather)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

Touch a creature and choose Charisma. The target gains Advantage on Charisma ability checks for the duration. Using a higher-level spell slot adds one creature per slot level above second; different targets may receive different ability choices.

Example: A diplomat has Advantage on a Charisma (Persuasion) check during a tense treaty audience. Their Charisma score, attack rolls, saving throws and spell save DC are not increased. Maintaining the enchantment requires Concentration.

This is the published modern alternative, not a claimed official conversion of the old fourth-level community spell.

Greater Eagle’s Splendor — D&D 2014

Published equivalent: Enhance Ability (Eagle’s Splendor), 2nd-level Transmutation. No separate official Greater Eagle’s Splendor spell.
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (fur or a feather from a beast)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

The touched target gains Advantage on Charisma checks. Using a slot above second level permits one additional target for each slot level above second. This spell does not increase Charisma itself or change the spell save DC of a Charisma-based caster.

Example: A performer receives Advantage on an appropriate Charisma (Performance) check while the spell is maintained. The benefit ends if Concentration breaks; there is no caster-level duration or +4 ability-score enhancement.

Greater Eagle’s Splendor — Pathfinder 1e

Unofficial Pathfinder adaptation of an archived community spell.
School: Transmutation
Level: Bard 4, Cleric 4, Paladin 4, Sorcerer/Wizard 4
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S, M/DF (eagle feathers or droppings)
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 hour per 2 caster levels
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

The subject gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Charisma. Charisma-based skills and other relevant modifiers improve, including applicable spell save DCs for Charisma spellcasters, but the spell grants no additional bonus spells. Enhancement bonuses of the same type do not stack.

Example: A level-12 caster gives a spokesperson whose Charisma is 14 a temporary score of 18 for six hours. The Charisma modifier rises from +2 to +4; a magic item already supplying +4 enhancement to Charisma will not add another +4.

This is a deliberately labelled adaptation: the original fourth-level placement and longer duration derive from the community record, not a Paizo publication.

Greater Eagle’s Splendor — D&D 3.5e

Community-created spell, not a Wizards of the Coast core spell.
School: Transmutation
Level: Bard 4, Cleric 4, Paladin 4, Sorcerer/Wizard 4
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S, M/DF (eagle feathers or droppings)
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 hour per 2 caster levels
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

This variant functions as Eagle’s Splendor, except for its fourth-level placement and extended duration. The target gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Charisma. Apply the normal changes to Charisma checks and Charisma-based spell save DCs, but do not gain extra bonus spell slots.

Example: At caster level 10, the enchantment lasts five hours. A character with Charisma 16 temporarily has Charisma 20. A second spell granting a +4 enhancement bonus to the same ability does not increase the total to +8.

Using the Spell in a Campaign

Put a long negotiation, contested performance or overnight interrogation at the heart of the scene. The magic increases a participant’s presence without making resistance impossible. Characters can still discover inconvenient facts, challenge a false claim or deny an audience to the enchanted envoy.

Three Adventures

The Emissary at the Gate

A representative of a besieging army negotiates tirelessly through the night. Someone is lending the emissary magical poise, but the underlying threat of the siege is real.

Voice of the Missing Queen

A court singer performs with supernatural confidence for a grieving city. Their patron wants the performance to disguise a message from the missing monarch.

The Long Audience

An envoy hopes to win a treaty before dawn. The enchantment lasts long enough; the difficulty lies in proving that both sides can honour their promises.

Related Spells and Archive Identity

The official shorter spell is Eagle’s Splendor; the official group spell is Mass Eagle’s Splendor. The archived Improved Eagle’s Splendor has the same fourth-level lists, +4 Charisma effect and duration; treat it as an alternate archive title, not an additional stacking spell. The published modern option is Enhance Ability.
