Winter Domain

The Winter Domain turns snow, seasonal cold, frozen travel and the lethal endurance of the long winter into divine magic. It is a published D&D 3.5 supplemental domain and should not be mistaken for a same-named Pathfinder or modern D&D subclass.

How the Winter Domain Plays
Winter is less about simple cold damage than about making the environment hostile. Snow, storms, reduced visibility and forced movement turn ordinary travel and open battlefields into problems the cleric is equipped to survive. Its higher-level spells can transform an entire region rather than merely damage one target.
Who Grants the Winter Domain?
Ullr is a strong campaign patron where winter travel, skis, hunting and northern endurance are already established. Other deities should receive the domain only when winter itself is a meaningful part of their portfolio, not merely because they live in a cold region.
Priests, Temples and Rites
Winter priests bless travellers before mountain crossings, read snowfall and ice as omens, preserve stores through the cold months and supervise rites marking the first freeze, the deepest winter and the return of thaw. Some serve communities that fear winter; others serve powers that regard it as a necessary trial.
What Are Winter Priests Doing Now?
They are reopening buried passes, investigating snow that falls out of season, negotiating with frost giants, recovering travellers trapped beyond the last safe road and determining whether a prolonged winter is natural, magical or divine.
