Cannibalism Subdomain

Desperate survivors representing the Cannibalism Subdomain

The Cannibalism Subdomain is a Pathfinder 1e replacement layer for the Evil Domain. It rewards a priest who consumes part of a helpless or freshly killed enemy, but it replaces only specific Evil Domain features rather than creating a new nine-spell domain.

Rules status: published Pathfinder 1e subdomain associated with Evil.

Replacement Power: Consume the Enemy

This replaces Touch of Evil. As a full-round action that is an evil act and provokes attacks of opportunity, you bite a helpless living or freshly killed creature for 1d3 damage. After consuming its flesh, you gain a +1 profane bonus to the saving throw DCs of your spells, spell-like abilities and supernatural abilities against creatures of the same type, and subtype where relevant for humanoids or outsiders. The effect lasts for a number of minutes equal to half your Cleric level or until you use this ability on a different creature.

The bonus rises by +1 at Cleric levels 5, 10, 15 and 20, to a maximum of +5. Uses per day equal 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Higher-Level Power

You retain the Evil Domain’s Scythe of Evil power at 8th level. Cannibalism replaces only Touch of Evil.

Replacement Domain Spells

1stMagic Fang replaces Protection from Good
2ndEnemy’s Heart replaces Align Weapon
3rdGreater Magic Fang replaces Magic Circle against Good

Levels 4–9 remain the normal Evil Domain spell list.

How the Cannibalism Subdomain Plays

The subdomain is built around preparing for a particular enemy type. Its power can raise save DCs substantially at higher levels, but using it requires a helpless or freshly killed creature and is explicitly an evil act in the rules.

Rules Sources and Licensing

The Cannibalism Subdomain follows Pathfinder Player Companion: Champions of Corruption. The crucial correction is structural: only Touch of Evil and the 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-level domain spells are replaced.
