(Area) Dartmoor

Dartmoor
Archibald Thorburn (1860–1935) Moorland landscape.

The haunt of pixies, a headless horseman, the undead spirit of Squire Richard Cabell  and his hellhounds, and a large black dog among others. The moorland village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor is even said to have been visited by Devils.

Many landmarks have stories associated with them, such as the haunted Jay’s Grave, the ancient burial site of Childe’s Tomb, the rock pile called Bowerman’s Nose, and the stones that mark former routes across the moor.
