Dragon Wild Shape — D&D 3.5e Epic Druid Feat

Dragon Wild Shape is a D&D 3.5e epic feat for a druid whose wild shape has become exceptionally powerful. Instead of being limited to the usual forms, the character can take the form of a listed chromatic or metallic dragon, gaining that form’s extraordinary and supernatural abilities while keeping the normal wild shape size limit.

D&D 3.5e — Wild Epic Feat Rules

At a Glance: Wisdom 30; Knowledge (nature) 30 ranks; wild shape six times per day. Eligible forms are black, blue, green, red, white, brass, bronze, copper, gold and silver dragons. The feat expands the available creature forms; it does not remove the character’s existing maximum size.

  • Prerequisites Wisdom 30, Knowledge (nature) 30 ranks, wild shape 6/day.
  • Benefit You may use wild shape to change into a dragon (black, blue, green, red, white, brass, bronze, copper, gold, or silver). The size limitation is the same as your limitation on animal size. You gain all extraordinary and supernatural abilities of the dragon whose form you take.

Using Dragon Wild Shape

Choose an eligible dragon type before transforming. The caster must still be able to assume a creature of that size under their normal wild shape rules. For example, a druid whose wild shape is limited to Huge animal forms does not gain permission to assume a Gargantuan dragon merely by taking this feat.

The original epic feat grants the chosen dragon form’s extraordinary and supernatural abilities. Those categories can include powerful defensive or offensive traits, but the feat does not say that the character automatically gains the dragon’s spellcasting or every spell-like ability. Use the precise dragon entry and the edition’s wild shape rules to adjudicate the transformed character.

Other Editions and Related Rules

Pathfinder 1e: Its beast-shape and dragon-form magic uses different rules; this feat is not an official Pathfinder option by default. D&D 2024 and 2014: Neither core edition publishes this D&D 3.5e epic feat. Use the relevant native druid Wild Shape rules rather than copying the feat’s supernatural ability benefits into fifth edition.
