Megantereon is in the diverse family of sabre-toothed cats, on the smaller side at 4 feet in length. It stalks the sparsely forested plains, and hunts the deer and rodents that roam its home. In most in other aspects it is similar to a smilodon.

Combat

It fights like a smilodon.

  • Pounce (Ex) When a megantereon makes a charge, it can follow with a full attack including its rake attack.
  • Rake (Ex) A megantereon gains extra natural attacks when it grapples its foe. Normally, a monster can attack with only one of its natural weapons while grappling, but megantereon gains two additional claw attacks that it can use only against a grappled foe. Rake attacks are not subject to the usual -4 penalty for attacking with a natural weapon in a grapple.

A megantereon must begin its turn grappling to use its rake-it can’t begin a grapple and rake in the same turn.
