Love Domain

The Love Domain governs attraction, devotion, affection and the powerful magic of the heart. This published d20 3.x version comes from The Lore of the Gods, Book One: The Greek Gods and is associated on the site with Aphrodite, Eros and Freya.

Edition Applicability
Choose one rules tradition. Pathfinder 1e uses the published Love subdomain of Charm; the d20 3.x — Greek tradition panel preserves the separately published Love domain. The powers and spell progressions are distinct.
Love Subdomain — Pathfinder 1e
Published Pathfinder 1e subdomain of Charm.
Choose this subdomain in place of its parent when your deity grants both. You cannot also select the parent as your other domain. All retained powers and all nine domain spells are included here.
Adoration (Su)
This power replaces Dazing Touch. As an immediate action after a melee or ranged attack against you is declared, but before its roll, invoke Sanctuary against that one attack. The attacker can negate it with a Will save at DC 10 + half your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier. It affects only one attack, even if the attacker has several. This is mind-affecting; daily uses equal 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Charming Smile (Sp)
At 8th level, cast Charm Person as a swift action with Will save DC 10 + half your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier. Only one creature can be charmed by this power at a time. Your daily duration pool is your cleric level in rounds, which need not be consecutive; dismissing the charm is a free action. Every attempt spends one round, including an attempt the target resists.

How the Love Domain Plays
Pathfinder Love protects against one attack through Adoration and gains swift-action charm at 8th level. Its full spell list emphasizes influence and emotional restraint. In d20 3.x — Greek tradition, love is primarily a social and enchantment domain. Its granted power protects the cleric from some of the same forces the domain manipulates, while its spells move from attraction and fascination into strong emotional compulsions and large-scale supernatural influence.
Love, Joining and Marriage
Love is not interchangeable with Joining or Marriage. Love concerns affection and desire; Joining concerns magical bonds; Marriage concerns formal union and obligation.
Priests, Rites and Sacred Duties
Priests of Love bless courtship, reconcile estranged partners, defend willing affection against coercion and interpret powerful emotions as part of divine life. The exact character of those duties depends heavily on the deity granting the domain.
