Legacy Rules
This apparently ordinary hat allows its wearer to alter their appearance as with Disguise Self. As part of the disguise, the hat itself can appear to be a comb, ribbon, headband, cap, coif, hood, helmet or another suitable form.
Using the Hat
The item changes appearance rather than identity. The limits, duration and ability to pierce the disguise come from the linked spell and the legacy illusion rules rather than from a separate power on this page.
Edition Note
This page preserves the legacy wondrous-item version of Hat of Disguise. Later editions have their own item wording and should use those edition-specific rules.
