Desert Domain

The Desert Domain commands heat, shifting sand and the spirits of the endless wastes. In its published Pathfinder 1e form, however, this is a Druid terrain domain from Ultimate Magic, not a Cleric domain. It remains in this library as a clearly labelled legacy reference rather than being misrepresented as Cleric rules.

Edition and Class Applicability
The published Desert Domain belongs to Pathfinder 1e’s Druid terrain-domain options. The mechanics below are retained faithfully for that class context. This page does not manufacture Cleric mechanics for Pathfinder, 5e/2014 or 2024 simply because the page sits inside the older Cleric Domain archive.
Desert Domain — Pathfinder 1e Druid
Rules status: published Pathfinder 1e Druid terrain domain from Ultimate Magic.
Heat Shimmer
As a free action, surround yourself with heat distortion that functions as Blur. Creatures that strike you in melee while this ability is active are dazzled for 1 round unless they succeed on the required Fortitude save. You can use this ability for a total number of rounds per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier; the rounds need not be consecutive.
Servant of the Sands
At 8th level, once per day you can call a janni as though using Lesser Planar Ally. At 12th level, you can instead call a common, non-noble genie as though using Planar Ally. At 16th level, you can call a noble genie as though using Greater Planar Ally. When used in desert terrain, no offering is required to call the creature and the service cost is halved.

How the Desert Domain Plays
The domain is strongest in terrain-heavy adventures. Heat Shimmer offers short-duration defence, while Servant of the Sands becomes a powerful utility and negotiation tool once genie allies are available.
Using Desert as a Cleric Theme
A Cleric devoted to a desert deity can still use desert imagery, rites and deity links, but the published mechanics above should not be presented as Cleric rules. Any future Cleric conversion should be explicitly labelled as an adaptation and balanced separately.

Rules Sources and Licensing
The Pathfinder mechanics on this page follow Ultimate Magic‘s Desert Domain for Druids. The class attribution is important: this is not a published Pathfinder Cleric domain.
