Catastrophe Subdomain

The Catastrophe Subdomain is a Pathfinder 1e replacement layer for the Destruction Domain. It keeps the base domain’s Destructive Smite but replaces the 8th-level aura with violent, changing weather and swaps only three domain spells.

Catastrophe Subdomain — Pathfinder 1e
Rules status: published Pathfinder 1e subdomain associated with Destruction.
Base Power Retained: Destructive Smite
You retain the Destruction Domain’s Destructive Smite: before making a melee attack, declare the smite to gain a morale bonus on damage equal to half your Cleric level, minimum 1. Uses per day equal 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Replacement Power: Deadly Weather
At 8th level, this replaces Destructive Aura. You can create a storm with a radius of 5 feet per Cleric level for a total number of rounds per day equal to your Cleric level. Each round choose one effect: driving rain, howling winds, heavy snow, or a lightning effect as Call Lightning. You cannot choose the same effect in consecutive rounds. The rounds need not be consecutive.
Replacement Domain Spells
| 2nd | Gust of Wind replaces Shatter |
|---|---|
| 3rd | Call Lightning replaces Contagion |
| 7th | Control Weather replaces Disintegrate |
All other domain spell levels remain those of the base Destruction Domain.
How the Catastrophe Subdomain Plays
Catastrophe changes Destruction from a mostly direct-damage domain into a weather-and-terrain controller at high level. Deadly Weather is especially useful when the cleric needs to disrupt movement, ranged attacks or visibility across a broad area.
Who Grants the Catastrophe Subdomain?
Use it for deities or powers whose established portfolios genuinely include storms, disasters, ruin or uncontrolled natural destruction. It should not be added merely because a deity is violent.
What Are Catastrophe Priests Doing Now?
They are reading destructive weather as divine signs, travelling toward disaster zones, provoking or averting ruin, and seeking sites where earthquakes, storms or other calamities have exposed something previously buried.

Rules Sources and Licensing
The Catastrophe Subdomain follows Pathfinder 1e published rules. The important correction is that it replaces Destructive Aura plus the 2nd-, 3rd- and 7th-level domain spells; the rest of Destruction remains intact.
