But, they also heard of their father’s ill treatment by King Athamas of Orchomenus, and they swore to avenge his death.
When Phrixus passed away, he and his brothers set out to fulfill their promise. However, their journey did not go as planned. They were shipwrecked on the Island of Ares in the Black Sea and stranded there for months. Just when they had given up hope of being rescued, the Argonauts, led by Jason, arrived on the island.
Jason, who was on a quest to obtain the Golden Fleece, was surprised to find the sons of Phrixus stranded on the island. He quickly realized that Cytisorus and his brothers were the grandsons of King Aeëtes of Colchis, the guardian of the Fleece. Seeing an opportunity, Jason convinced the brothers to return with him to Colchis and help him retrieve the Fleece.
The brothers agreed, and they set sail with the Argonauts. Once they arrived in Colchis, Cytisorus and his brothers shared their knowledge of the land and the layout of the kingdom with Jason and the Argonauts. They also warned Jason of the many dangers and obstacles that he would face in his quest for the Fleece.
Thanks to their help, Jason and the Argonauts were able to retrieve the Fleece and escape Colchis. He and his brothers were overjoyed, not only had they avenged their father’s death, but they had also played a crucial role in the retrieval of the Golden Fleece.
After the adventure was over, Cytisorus and his brothers returned with the Argonauts to Greece. Their journey had been long and treacherous, but they had emerged victorious. Cytisorus had proven himself to be a brave and intelligent warrior, and his reputation as such spread throughout Greece.
