Divine Sense. As an action, Tang Sanzang can open his awareness to detect evil and good. Until the end of his next turn, he knows the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of him that is not behind total cover. He knows the type of any being whose presence he senses but not its identity. Within the same radius, he also detects the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated.

Spellcasting. Tang Sanzang is a 10th-level spellcaster. His spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 15, +7 to hit with spell attacks). He has the following cleric spells prepared:

  • Cantrips (at will): Guidance, Light, Sacred Flame, Thaumaturgy
  • 1st level (4 slots): Bless, Cure Wounds, Protection from Evil and Good
  • 2nd level (3 slots): Lesser Restoration, Prayer of Healing, Spiritual Weapon
  • 3rd level (3 slots): Dispel Magic, Magic Circle, Mass Healing Word
  • 4th level (3 slots): Banishment, Freedom of Movement

Turn Undead. Tang Sanzang can use his Channel Divinity to turn undead. As an action, he presents his holy symbol and speaks a prayer censuring the undead. Each undead that can see or hear him within 30 feet of him must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage.

Divine Intervention (1/week). Tang Sanzang can call on his deity for aid when needed. When he does so, the deity intervenes on his behalf, giving him guidance or assistance in a time of need. The nature of this intervention is determined by the DM.

Actions Quarterstaff. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage or 5 (1d8 + 1) bludgeoning damage if wielded with both hands.

Sanctify Ground (Recharge 5-6). As an action, Tang Sanzang can sanctify the ground within a 30-foot radius centered on himself. For 1 minute, this area becomes hallowed ground, and undead cannot enter or pass through it. Additionally, creatures of evil alignment have disadvantage on attack rolls while within the area. Once used, Tang Sanzang cannot use this ability again until he completes a short or long rest.

Divine Guidance. Tang Sanzang can use his reaction to grant a creature within 30 feet of him advantage on a saving throw or ability check. He can use this feature a number of times equal to his Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). He regains all expended uses after a long rest.

Bonus Actions Healing Word (1/turn). Tang Sanzang can use a bonus action to expend a spell slot to heal a creature he can see within 60 feet of him. The creature regains hit points equal to 1d4 + his Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1d4+1).

Legendary Actions Tang Sanzang can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Tang Sanzang regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Divine Strike. Tang Sanzang makes a melee weapon attack with his quarterstaff.

Healing Touch (Costs 2 Actions). Tang Sanzang casts Cure Wounds on a creature he can touch.

Divine Wisdom (Costs 3 Actions). Tang Sanzang can cast Dispel Magic.
