Bane of Enemies — D&D 3.5e Epic Ranger Feat

Bane of Enemies is a D&D 3.5e epic feat for rangers with several favored enemies. Any weapon they wield gains the bane weapon benefit against a creature of a favored enemy type: a stronger enhancement bonus and extra damage on a hit. It works with the ranger’s existing favored enemy choices rather than requiring a separate bane weapon for each foe.

D&D 3.5e — Epic Feat Rules

At a Glance: Survival 24 ranks and at least five favored enemy types. When attacking a favored enemy, a weapon you wield acts as a bane weapon against that type. The bonus does not stack with similar abilities.

  • Prerequisites Survival 24 ranks, five or more favored enemies.
  • Benefit Any weapon you wield against one of your favored enemies is treated as a bane weapon for that creature type (thus, its enhancement bonus is increased by +2 and it deals +2d6 points of damage). This ability doesn’t stack with similar abilities.

How the Bane Bonus Works

For example, an epic ranger carrying a +1 longsword faces a creature of a chosen favored enemy type. The feat treats that sword as bane against the creature: its enhancement bonus rises by +2 for that target, making it effectively +3 against that foe, and it deals an additional 2d6 damage on a successful hit. Against another creature type that is not one of the ranger’s favored enemies, the feat grants no bane benefit.

This is not permission to add an extra +2 and 2d6 again from another identical bane-like ability: the printed feat says its benefit does not stack with similar abilities. It also does not grant additional favored enemy choices; you must already meet the prerequisite.

Other Editions and Related Rules

The rules above come from the D&D 3.5e epic-feat SRD. D&D 2024 and 2014 do not feature an identically named core feat. Pathfinder 1e has favored enemy and bane-related options, but the exact D&D epic feat is not presented here as a native Pathfinder rule.
