Mobility (General)

Prerequisites: Dexterity 13, Dodge.
Benefit: You get a +4 Dodge bonus to Armor Class against attacks of opportunity caused when you move out of or within a threatened area. A condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose Dodge bonuses.
Dodge bonuses stack with each other, unlike most types of bonuses.
Special: A fighter may select Mobility as one of his fighter bonus feats.
What Mobility Protects Against
Mobility gives a +4 dodge bonus to Armor Class specifically against attacks of opportunity caused by moving out of or within a threatened area. It does not apply to every attack of opportunity a character might provoke for some other reason. The distinction matters whenever several different actions are happening in the same threatened space.
Using Mobility in Play
- Moving through a melee: the bonus helps when a character must cross threatened squares to reach a more important position.
- Repositioning around enemies: Mobility supports characters who need to move past front-line opponents rather than remain stationary.
- Dodge-based builds: the feat requires Dodge, so it naturally continues a defensive movement-focused feat chain.
Rules Example
If a character with Mobility leaves a square threatened by an enemy and that movement provokes an attack of opportunity, the character gains the +4 dodge bonus against that attack. If the same character provokes an attack of opportunity for a reason unrelated to movement, Mobility does not add its bonus.
Dodge Bonus Reminder
Mobility’s protection is a dodge bonus. If the character loses the Dexterity bonus to Armor Class, the Mobility bonus is also lost. Dodge bonuses can stack with other dodge bonuses, which makes the feat useful alongside other movement and defensive effects.
