“Discover the Secrets of Leprechauns: Pots of Gold Await!”

Leprechaun
Midjourney

Leprechauns are mythical creatures from Irish folklore, often depicted as small, mischievous beings with a penchant for playing tricks and hoarding gold. Standing at a mere height of about 2 feet, these pint-sized beings are known for their distinctive green clothing, including buckled shoes, a waistcoat, and a top hat. Their attire is usually complemented by a long, white beard, and their eyes often sparkle with a hint of mischief.

They are renowned for their cleverness and are said to possess extraordinary knowledge of hidden treasure, particularly pots of gold hidden at the end of rainbows. They are skilled craftsmen, known for their cobbling abilities, which they take great pride in. Leprechauns are known to spend much of their time crafting and maintaining their shoes, often working diligently under the cover of moonlight.

Despite their small stature and playful demeanor, Leprechauns should not be underestimated. They are known to be quite cunning and will go to great lengths to protect their precious pots of gold or outwit those who seek to capture them. While they may enjoy a good joke or prank, they can be fiercely territorial and will defend their treasures with determination.

Leprechauns are iconic figures in Irish mythology, often associated with luck, wealth, and a sense of enchantment. Believed to bring good fortune to those who catch them. Whether seen as tricksters or benevolent beings, Leprechauns remain a beloved symbol of Irish folklore.

Innate Spellcasting. The leprechaun’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 14). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

  • At will: Prestidigitation
  • 3/day each: Minor Illusion, Charm Person, Invisibility (self only)
  • 1/day: Dimension Door

Lucky Charm. It carries a special lucky charm. When the leprechaun or a friendly creature within 30 feet of it makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, it can use its reaction to roll a d20 and choose whether to use its own roll or the roll of the creature with the lucky charm.

Nimble Escape. It can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of its turns.

Actions

Shillelagh. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage.

Trickster’s Prank. The leprechaun targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed until the end of the leprechaun’s next turn. While charmed, the target’s movement is halved, and it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If the target succeeds on the saving throw or takes damage, the effect ends.

Reaction

Vanish (Recharge 5-6). When the leprechaun is hit by an attack, it magically teleports, and the attack misses. The leprechaun reappears in an unoccupied space of its choice within 30 feet of its previous location.

Arthur Rackham (1867-1939)

A leprechaun is a type of the “faerie folk” that inhabited Ireland before the arrival of the Celts.

They usually take the form of old men who enjoy partaking in mischief. Their trade is that of a cobbler or shoemaker. They are said to be very rich, having many treasure crocks buried.

Leprechaun’s are small folk who are found in fair, green lands and enjoy frolicking, working magic, and causing harmless mischief.

The Wee-folk (as they call themselves) are about 2 feet tall. They have pointed ears and their large noses also come to a tapered point. Most male leprechauns have beards. All leprechauns have red hair and green eyes. They dress in green vests or coats, white shirts, and green breeches primarily. Most also have a long stemmed pipe.

COMBAT

These fun spirited, magical creatures avoid physical combat when possible, preferring to flee rather than fight. If pressed, they do have a number of abilities that are useful in combat.

Pipe-Smoke (Su) – a leprechaun can make the smoke from their pipe have magical effects. They may, once per day, create a fog cloud (as a third level caster).

All spells are cast as a 5th level sorcerer and all spells are Charisma based.

Hide in Plain Sight (Su) – in any natural environment, a leprechaun may make a Hide check even under direct observation.
