Known as handmaiden devils, Mothers of Pain, and Maids of Miscarriage, gylous attend to the whims and schemes of Hell’s few female overlords. Like manipulative matrons amid decadent mortal courts, these deceivers hide their fathomless evil beneath illusions of beauty, graciousness, and tradition. Gylous particularly loathe children. It’s said that the persistent cry of a babe can sometimes cause these fiends to abandon their illusions and viciously attack.

As greater devils, gylous can command many lesser devils, yet harbor an exclusive favoritism for erinyes. A gylou weighs 160 pounds and stands stiffly at 5-1/2 feet – though many wear their head-sprouting tentacles in tall, elaborate coiffures.

Innate Spellcasting. The devil’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: alter self, major image
3/day each: black tentacles, suggestion

Magic Resistance. The handmaiden devil has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Spider Climb: The handmaiden devil can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The gylou makes four attacks, two with her claws and two with her tentacles.

Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) slashing damage.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 15). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained.

Cage: The gylou makes one tentacle attack against a Medium or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the tentacle’s damage, the target is caged in the lower portion of the gylou, and the grapple ends. While caged, the creature is Restrained, it has three quarters cover against and on attacks and other effects outside the gylou, and it takes 24 (4d6 + 10) slashing damage at the start of each of the devil’s turns.

If the devil takes 20 slashing damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the tentacles are severed, and the creature falls Prone in a space within 5 feet of the devil. The ability then recharges on a 5-6. If the devil dies, a caged creature is no longer Restrained by it. Only one creature can be caged at a time.

Tentacle Cage (Su)

If a gylou successfully grapples a creature, she transfers that creature into her lower body’s nest of cage-like tentacles. This works like swallow whole. The gylou’s tentacles are AC 17 and have 18 hp for the purpose of an entrapped creature cutting itself out. A gylou’s tendrils heal quickly, allowing her to use this ability 1 round after a creature cuts itself free.
