Dabble Candles — Legacy Witch Art

Candles is a legacy Witch Art that uses flame, shadow, coloured light and ritual illumination as channels for spellcraft. It belongs to the preserved d20 Dabble system.

Choose Candles If…

  • You want subtle ritual magic built around flame, shadow and coloured light.
  • You like divination and atmosphere more than battlefield spectacle.
  • You want an Art that is easy to weave into everyday Witch rituals.

What it feels like to play: Candles is ideal for a Witch whose magic begins quietly: a wick catches, a shadow moves the wrong way, and suddenly the room feels different.

Legacy rules note

This Art uses the preserved d20 Witch rules. Its original prerequisites and spell progression remain below; other editions need a deliberate conversion.

Dabble Candles
Georg Flegel (1566-1638) Title: Stilleben mit Kerze. Date 1631

Candle-workers use controlled flame and changing light as magical symbols, focuses and sources of divination. The original d20 write-up bars lawful Witches; campaigns may instead require a particular ritual tradition or style of practice.

Power: Candlesight: The witch gains Low-Light Vision; if she already possesses this ability, she can now see three times as far (instead of twice as far) as a creature without it.
