Mercy Brown is an enigmatic figure shrouded in darkness and mystery. Once a vibrant young woman, she now walks the night as an immortal creature of the undead. Embraced by the shadows, Mercy is a vampire, cursed to roam the world in eternal hunger.
Her transformation into a vampire was not of her choosing, but a fate thrust upon her through a fateful encounter with an ancient and malevolent creature of the night. As a vampire, Mercy is both blessed and cursed with supernatural abilities and a thirst for the life essence of others.
Haunted by her eternal existence and the longing for her lost humanity, Mercy treads a delicate line between her insatiable bloodlust and a glimmer of compassion that still resides within her. She seeks solace and redemption, hoping to find a way to reconcile her monstrous nature with her yearning for redemption.
With an ethereal beauty that masks her true nature, Mercy Brown, known as the Night’s Temptress, possesses an ethereal beauty that belies her dark nature. With porcelain skin as pale as the moon, her midnight-black hair cascades in elegant waves down her back. Her piercing, crimson eyes hold a mix of mystery and sorrow, drawing others into their hypnotic gaze.
Standing with an alluring grace, she exudes an aura of otherworldly charm and danger. Clad in flowing, black garments that seem to blend seamlessly with the shadows, she moves with a feline grace, her every step deliberate and calculated. A pair of elegant, ebony wings unfurl from her back, their feathers shimmering with a subtle iridescence. Though her appearance is captivating, an undercurrent of darkness and hunger lurks beneath her enchanting visage.
Driven by a desire to understand her own existence, Mercy embarks on a journey to uncover the secrets of her kind and the origins of her curse. In her quest for knowledge, she grapples with her own inner demons and struggles to find a balance between her innate darkness and her dwindling flicker of humanity.
Mercy Brown is a complex character, torn between the allure of the night and the remnants of her mortal self. Her story is one of eternal longing, inner turmoil, and the eternal quest for redemption amidst the darkness of her existence as a vampire.

Misty Escape. When Mercy drops to 0 hit points outside her resting place, she transforms into a cloud of mist instead of falling unconscious, provided she isn’t in sunlight or running water. While in mist form, she can’t take any actions, speak, or manipulate objects. She is immune to all damage except radiant damage. She has a flying speed of 20 feet and can hover. She can’t regain hit points or regain the use of her bite until she reforms. Any equipment she is wearing or carrying is transformed with her, and she reverts to her true form if she dies.
Regeneration. Mercy regains 20 hit points at the start of her turn if she has at least 1 hit point and isn’t in sunlight or running water. If she takes radiant damage or damage from holy water, this trait doesn’t function at the start of her next turn.
Spider Climb. Mercy can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Vampire Weaknesses. Mercy has the following flaws:
- Forbiddance. Mercy can’t enter a residence without an invitation from one of the occupants.
- Sunlight Hypersensitivity. Mercy takes 20 radiant damage when she starts her turn in sunlight. While in sunlight, she has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.
Actions
Multiattack. Mercy makes two attacks, only one of which can be a bite.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one willing creature, or a creature that is grappled by Mercy, incapacitated, or restrained. Hit: 9 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage plus 14 (4d6) necrotic damage. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and Mercy regains hit points equal to that amount. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. A humanoid slain by this attack rises 24 hours later as a vampire spawn under Mercy’s control, unless the humanoid is restored to life or its body is destroyed. Mercy can have only one creature under her control in this way at a time.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 8 (1d4 + 4) slashing damage.
Charm. Mercy targets one humanoid she can see within 30 feet of her. If the target can see Mercy, the target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or be charmed by Mercy. The charmed target regards Mercy as a trusted friend to be heeded and protected. Although the target isn’t under Mercy’s control, it takes her requests or actions in the most favorable way it can.
Children of the Night (3/Day). Mercy magically calls 2d4 swarms of bats or rats, provided she isn’t in sunlight. These creatures arrive in 1d4 rounds and obey her commands. The swarms disappear after 1 hour.
