Witchcraft • Legacy Mind-Affecting Concealment
Mind Obscure

Mind Obscure does not make the caster invisible; it removes the caster from one creature’s awareness. The target cannot consciously detect the caster through ordinary senses until the caster attacks or otherwise turns the spell hostile.

Mind Obscure — D&D 3.5e (legacy d20 Witch rules)
| School | Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting] |
|---|---|
| Level | Witch 2 |
| Components | V, S, M |
| Casting Time | 1 action |
| Range | Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./level) |
| Target | One creature; the original stat line is inconsistent, but the description clearly affects a target |
| Duration | 1 minute/level |
| Saving Throw | Will negates |
| Spell Resistance | Yes |
The caster is removed from the target’s conscious perception. This is not invisibility: the target simply fails to register the caster through sight, hearing, scent, tremorsense or similar senses.
Detect Magic can reveal a faint magical aura in the area without identifying the caster’s location. True Seeing negates the effect under the legacy rules. If the caster attacks the target or casts an offensive spell against it, Mind Obscure ends immediately.
Edition Boundary
The absolute sensory denial in the legacy spell is unusually strong by later-edition standards. Do not translate it directly into 5.5e or Pathfinder without a deliberate conversion.
