Bahamut, a platinum-scaled dragon, rests above the clouds beside seven golden canaries.
Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon.

Bahamut is the Platinum Dragon, defender of the helpless and sovereign of noble dragons. He walks mortal roads as an old traveller with seven bright songbirds and listens closely to what people do when no one powerful is watching. His mercy is not softness: few things stir his wrath faster than cruelty disguised as justice.

What Is Happening Right Now?

In 1454 CE, an old man in a plain travelling cloak has been seen on the roads between the mountains and the western seaports. Seven yellow birds watch from his staff. When a village refuses shelter to a dragonborn family hunted by slavers, the birds disappear before dawn and the slavers’ horses refuse to cross the bridge. The old man stays to mend the village well.

Bahamut does not decree that all his servants must fight. Some are sent to heal the wounded, rescue captives or carry a warning to a dragon whose rage will scorch an innocent town. The Platinum Dragon trusts mortal heroes with difficult choices because obedience without compassion produces another kind of tyranny.

Dragon, Traveller and the Seven

In his native form Bahamut is a towering, luminous dragon whose scales shine with a muted platinum light. In his gentler guises he is an old scholar, a limping traveller or a patient teacher. Seven great gold dragons attend him, their appearances reduced to small birds when he travels unnoticed. Their presence is reassurance, not a license to overthrow every local ruler.

He values restraint in those with great strength. A tyrant who surrenders and puts captives free may receive a chance to repair the harm; one who keeps harming the vulnerable has chosen the consequence. Bahamut’s opposition to Tiamat is fierce, but he refuses to treat every chromatic dragon or its hatchlings as irredeemable by ancestry alone.

Worship and the Platinum Haven

His shrines are not always cathedrals. A mountain refuge with a dry sleeping room, a dragonborn caravan’s roadside altar or a fortress chapel where surrendered enemies are not abused can be a place of his worship. Knights offer service, healers tend their neighbours, and dragons swear to restrain their power.

On Celestia the Platinum Haven is a place of bright high halls and watchful gold dragons. Bahamut does not permit petitioners to buy his intervention with coins. His question is what they intend to protect once they return. The blessings of his clerics are separate from his own magic and from his full divine power.

Three Adventures Under Seven Stars

The Eighth Canary

An eighth bright bird joins the old traveller’s retinue in a snowbound inn. It is a trapped young dragon, desperate for the protection of his seven companions. A gold wyrm demands the creature be surrendered for an old crime. The party can investigate what actually happened or become the young dragon’s advocates.

The Citadel of Chained Wings

A knight who invokes Bahamut has locked a frightened silver dragon in an iron courtyard, claiming its magic endangered the town. The knight’s hostages say a hidden draconic cult provoked the attack. Freeing the dragon is risky; proving the truth before nightfall may spare the citadel a battle.

The Mercy of the Platinum Gate

A refugee caravan reaches a Celestian gate pursued by agents of Tiamat. The gatekeeper will protect those within but will not let the fiends’ curse enter. The heroes can find a cure, draw the pursuers away or ask Bahamut to take responsibility for those who cannot fight.

His Enemy and His Servants

Tiamat is the rival of Bahamut in the dragon-god traditions of Dungeons & Dragons. The Babylonian Marduk faces the primordial sea-power Tiamat in a separate creation tradition. The two divine histories remain distinct in SpiralWorlds.

The seven gold dragons are Bahamut’s companions and heralds. The characters may meet one disguised as a canary, as a guide in human form or in draconic glory. They are not a standing army to be borrowed for every mortal quarrel: when Bahamut sends one, the mission matters enough to divide his own attention.

The Aegis of Seven Stars

The Aegis is a platinum-white shield marked with seven small stars. A hero bearing it can stand between a destructive breath and a group of innocents, but cannot make an entire army immortal. Its full rules are in the four individual edition panels below.

The Platinum Dragon also answers mortal vows through lesser manifestations: a celestial vision can be a warning, a lesson or a refuge, rather than an invitation to face his whole divine power.

Rules by Edition

The direct-deity statistics below are original, unplaytested epic campaign builds and do not replace the officially published 2014-era Aspect of Bahamut (CR 30) in Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons. The seven gold dragons are narrative companions, not seven additional statblocks here. The Aegis receives item rules in all four panels.

Sources, Artwork and Distinct Identities

The Platinum Dragon and his seven gold wyrms belong to Dungeons & Dragons mythology. For the authorised 2014-era Aspect of Bahamut and full dragon-god treatment see Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons (official rules are not copied onto this page). The name Bahamut also occurs in much older Arabic cosmological accounts describing a gigantic fish; that literary figure is not automatically this dragon. Nor is the Platinum Dragon the Babylonian Marduk. The earlier credited synthesis archive remains available. Hero illustration: original AI-generated artwork created for SpiralWorlds. The earlier archive retains its original artist and game-build credits. All new deity and relic mechanics and adventures are original campaign interpretations.
