Rumormongering Citizens Settlement
In a settlement of rumormongering citizens, almost nothing stays private for long. Servants, neighbours, market traders, guards and innkeepers constantly exchange news, guesses and embellished versions of what they have seen.
At a Glance
- Information: local events spread quickly.
- Accuracy: useful facts are mixed with exaggeration and invention.
- Privacy: strangers attract attention and unusual behaviour becomes a topic of conversation.
Legacy Settlement Rules
Under the legacy Pathfinder settlement rules, Rumormongering Citizens increases Lore by 1 and decreases Society by 1.
Using It in Play
This quality makes gathering local information easier, but secrecy harder. Adventurers asking about a missing person may receive several leads within an hour, yet word that they are asking can reach the very person they are investigating just as quickly.
Good rumours should contain a mixture of truth, misunderstanding and self-interest. A baker may know who arrived after dark, while being completely wrong about why they came.
