Choose a skill.
Benefit: You get a +3 bonus on all checks involving that skill.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new skill.
How Skill Focus Works
When you take Skill Focus, choose one skill. You gain a +3 bonus on checks using that skill. The feat is deliberately narrow: it gives a stronger bonus to one chosen skill rather than spreading smaller bonuses across several different skills.
Choosing the Right Skill
- Signature skills: choose a skill your character expects to roll often and wants to perform reliably.
- Role-defining skills: scouts, negotiators, crafters and specialists can reinforce the skill that defines their job in the party.
- Prerequisite planning: some character options care about particular skill totals, making a focused bonus more valuable than a broader but smaller increase.
Taking Skill Focus More Than Once
Skill Focus can be selected multiple times, but each selection must apply to a different skill. Taking Skill Focus twice for the same skill does not stack the bonus. A character could therefore take Skill Focus for one social skill and later take it again for a completely different knowledge, movement or perception skill.
See the Feats index for other general and skill-based character options.
