Spell Knowledge — D&D 3.5e Epic Feat

Spell Knowledge is a D&D 3.5e epic feat for arcane spellcasters who have reached their class’s highest normal spell level. It lets a character learn two additional arcane spells, but does not grant extra spell slots. This page preserves the published 3.5e feat; it is not an official feat with the same name in D&D 2024, D&D 2014 or Pathfinder 1e.

D&D 3.5e — Published Feat
- Prerequisite Ability to cast spells of the maximum normal spell level of an arcane spellcasting class.
- Benefit You learn two new arcane spells of any level up to the maximum level you can cast. This feat does not grant any additional spell slots.
- Special You can gain this feat multiple times.
What Does It Change in Play?
A wizard who can already cast the highest normal spell level available to the class can use Spell Knowledge to broaden the spells they know, without increasing how many spells they can cast that day. For example, a qualifying epic character might learn two spells that fill gaps in travel, defence or investigation. Check the class’s normal spell-learning rules to determine which spells can actually be selected and prepared.
The feat can be selected more than once: each selection adds two spells. It does not make a spellcaster eligible for spell levels beyond the normal maximum and is not a substitute for additional daily spell slots.
Other Rules Editions
D&D 2024 and 2014: No identically named official Spell Knowledge epic feat is being presented here. Use the spell-learning and feat rules of the chosen edition rather than adding the 3.5e benefit automatically. Pathfinder 1e: This entry does not assert that the 3.5e epic feat is a Pathfinder rule; importing it would be a separate campaign decision.
