Benefit: You get a +2 bonus on all Bluff checks and Intimidate checks.
What Persuasive Improves
Persuasive strengthens two different ways of influencing other people. Bluff covers deception, misdirection and convincing lies, while Intimidate covers threats, pressure and coercion. The feat’s +2 bonus applies whenever either of those skills is rolled.
When Persuasive Is Useful
- Face characters: characters who handle negotiations, interrogations or social infiltration gain a bonus in two commonly used interaction skills.
- Deception-heavy play: Bluff becomes more reliable when maintaining a cover story or misleading an opponent.
- Coercive play: Intimidate becomes more reliable when forcing cooperation through fear rather than charm.
Persuasive Example
A character lies to a gate guard to gain entry and later threatens a captured bandit for information. Persuasive applies to the Bluff check at the gate and to the Intimidate check during the interrogation. The feat improves the checks; it does not make an impossible lie automatically believable or force a creature to comply when the rules do not allow it.
See the Feats index for other social and skill-based options.
