Portable Alchemist’s Lab
A portable alchemist’s lab is a compact collection of burners, glassware, measures, tools and working vessels intended for an alchemist who has to work away from a permanent laboratory.
Legacy Rule
In the legacy rules represented by this entry, the portable lab provides a +1 circumstance bonus on Craft (alchemy) checks. It is less capable than a full laboratory but far easier to move with an expedition.
Using It in Play
The lab is useful when characters need to identify, prepare or experiment with substances while travelling. It needs a reasonably stable working area and sensible access to heat, water and ingredients; carrying the equipment does not remove those practical requirements.
What the Kit Contains
- Small vessels and measures.
- Basic heating and mixing tools.
- Containers for reagents and samples.
- Simple protective and handling equipment.
Adventure Use
A damaged lab can limit what an alchemist can do far from civilisation. Replacing a cracked vessel, finding a rare reagent or securing a safe place to work can become part of an expedition rather than an abstract shopping task.
