Titanoboa

Titanoboa
Creator from Microsoft Bing

The Titanoboa is a colossal serpent, a true giant among snakes. It measures up to 50 feet in length and can weigh over a ton. Its body is sleek and muscular, covered in dark, earthy-toned scales that provide it with excellent camouflage in its swampy habitat. Its eyes are small and beady, yet remarkably sharp, making it a master of stealth and ambush.

This monstrous snake is an apex predator, relying on its immense size, power, and excellent sense of smell to hunt. Its fearsome reputation comes from its ability to constrict even the largest prey with ease, squeezing the life out of them. Its appearance alone is enough to strike terror into the hearts of those who cross its path, and its hissing call sends chills down the spines of both prey and predator.

The Titanoboa is a relic from prehistoric times, a symbol of the ancient monsters that once roamed the Earth. Its presence is a reminder of the age of giants when titanic creatures ruled the land, sea, and sky.

Hold Breath. It can hold its breath for up to 30 minutes.

Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the Titanoboa can’t constrict another target.

Engulf. The Titanoboa can attempt to engulf a Large or smaller creature grappled by it. The engulfed target is blinded, restrained, and unable to breathe, and it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw at the start of each of the Titanoboa’s turns or take 18 (4d8) acid damage. If the Titanoboa moves, the engulfed creature moves with it. The Titanoboa can have only one creature engulfed at a time.

Hold Ground. If the Titanoboa is grappled, the grapple check is made with advantage due to its immense size and strength.

Swallow Whole (Recharge 5-6). The Titanoboa makes one bite attack against a Large or smaller target it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the Titanoboa, and it takes 36 (8d8) acid damage at the start of each of the Titanoboa’s turns.

If the Titanoboa takes 50 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the Titanoboa must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the swallowed creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 feet of the Titanoboa. If the Titanoboa dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 30 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Keen Smell. The Titanoboa has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d8 + 5) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) acid damage.

Swallow Grappled Prey (Recharge 5-6). The Titanoboa swallows any Large or smaller creature it is grappling. The target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the Titanoboa, and it takes 27 (6d8) acid damage at the start of each of the Titanoboa’s turns.

If the Titanoboa takes 36 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the Titanoboa must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the swallowed creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 feet of the Titanoboa. If the Titanoboa dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Swallow (Recharge 5-6). The Titanoboa swallows any Medium or smaller creature it is grappling. The target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the Titanoboa, and it takes 18 (4d8) acid damage at the start of each of the Titanoboa’s turns.

If the Titanoboa takes 22 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the Titanoboa must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the swallowed creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 feet of the Titanoboa. If the Titanoboa dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the Titanoboa can’t constrict another target.

Legendary Actions

The Titanoboa can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The Titanoboa regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Swallow Grappled Prey. The Titanoboa uses its Swallow Grappled Prey, or Swallow action, recharging it.

Tail Attack. The Titanoboa makes a tail attack.

Release Grappled Target. The Titanoboa releases a Large or smaller grappled target.

This immense serpent moves in deliberate, slithering undulations, its forked tongue tasting the air eagerly for the scent of prey.
