Simosuchus

Several small crocs walk along the bank of the jungle river. The will sometimes look at you and sniff, but they quickly get nervous and run off.

Simosuchus is a small crocodylomorph from the Early Cretaceous of Madagascar. It is named so for its unusually short skull. Fully grown individuals would have been about 1 meter in length. Simosuchus’s teeth are shaped like cloves, or maple leaves, and, coupled with the preposterous short snout, were unsuitable for shearing or rending flesh. In fact, these features lead paleontologists to suspect that it was a (largely) terrestrial herbivore.

An unusual creature, simosuchus is a herbivorous crocodile. It also has a very short snout, giving it the nickname pugcroc.
