Herd Animal, Elk (Megaloceros)
“Discover the Majestic Megaloceros: The Ancient Giant Deer of Legends!”
The massive and majestic elk stands fully the height of a human at its shoulder, and its antlers stretch over ten feet across.
The Megaloceros, also known as the Irish Elk, is an impressive, prehistoric creature that roams the ancient plains and woodlands. This massive deer stands as tall as a man, with antlers that reach up to 12 feet in span, making them one of the most remarkable and iconic creatures of their time.
With a sturdy, well-muscled body, the Megaloceros boasts a majestic presence, exuding an air of grandeur and strength. Their thick fur coat provides protection against the elements, allowing them to thrive in diverse environments. Their reddish-brown fur, highlighted with a rich, dark mane, enhances their regal appearance.
The most striking feature of the Megaloceros is undoubtedly its enormous antlers, which are adorned with numerous branching points. These antlers are often used for defense, display, and establishing dominance. The Megaloceros has keen, intelligent eyes that reveal a strong sense of awareness in their gaze, making them a formidable presence in the ancient wilderness.

Traits
Charge. If the Megaloceros moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a ram attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 11 (2d10) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Keen Senses. The Megaloceros has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Multiattack. The Megaloceros makes two attacks: one with its antlers and one with its hooves.
Actions
- Antlers. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d10 + 4) piercing damage.
- Hooves. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage.
- Hoof Stomp (Recharge 5-6). The Megaloceros strikes the ground with its powerful hooves, creating a shockwave in a 15-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. On a successful save, the creature takes half the damage from the attack and isn’t knocked prone. The DC for this saving throw is increased by 5 if the Megaloceros is charging.
Reactions
Evasion. If the Megaloceros is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage on a successful save, and only half damage on a failed save.
Herd Animal, Elk (Megaloceros)
Powerful and swift land mammals, elk range through the plains, hills, and forests of many wildernesses, in great herds. Related to deer, elk prove important parts of many ecologies, being able to fend off or flee many threats while feeding greater predators. Their size, strength, and antlersāreaching up to 10 feet wide on some malesāallow them to contend with most of their environmentās dangers, though herds generally favor flight to combat.
