feat Scribe Scroll (Item Creation)
Scribe Scroll (Item Creation)

Prerequisite: Caster level 1st.
Benefit: You can create a scroll of any spell that you know. Scribing a scroll takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price. The base price of a scroll is its spell level x its caster level x 25 gp. To scribe a scroll, you must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing one-half of this base price.
Any scroll that stores a spell with a costly material component or an XP cost also carries a commensurate cost. In addition to the costs derived from the base price, you must expend the material component or pay the XP when scribing the scroll.
How Scroll Costs Are Calculated
The base price of a scroll is spell level × caster level × 25 gp. The creator then spends XP equal to one twenty-fifth of that base price and raw materials equal to one-half of the base price. Expensive material components and additional XP costs are paid on top of those normal creation costs.
Scribe Scroll Example
A 3rd-level spell written at caster level 5 has a base price of 375 gp: 3 × 5 × 25 gp. Scribing it costs 15 XP and 187.5 gp in raw materials before adding any expensive material component or separate XP cost required by the spell itself.
When Scribe Scroll Is Useful
- Preparing rarely needed magic: a scroll can hold a situational spell without consuming a normal prepared slot on the day it is needed.
- Sharing access: characters who can use the finished scroll can carry magic prepared earlier by the creator.
- Downtime planning: the feat turns time, gold and XP into a reserve of spell effects for future adventures.
The creator must know the spell being scribed and must meet the caster-level prerequisite. See the Feats index for other item-creation and spellcasting options.
