Also known as the Eastern Roman Empire, Byzantium with its great capital Constantinople is the center of Roman-Hellenistic culture. This stable empire depends on an efficient administrative bureaucracy, shrewd diplomacy, a powerful army and navy, and religious orthodoxy.

Constantinople

Constantinople is the capital city of Byzantium, it was the largest and wealthiest European city. After the loss of its territory, the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire has been reduced to just its capital city and its environs. Under the Godess Tyche the city has prospered and flourished again. Becoming an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural centre in the region.

Constantinople is also famed for its massive defenses. Although besieged on numerous occasions by various peoples, the city has never fallen. The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, an impregnable fortress enclosing magnificent palaces, domes, and mega casinos, hotels and associated entertainment.
