Hanuman is a revered figure in Hinduism, known for his strength, intelligence, and devotion to Lord Rama. He is a monkey god, and his story is one of the most famous in Hindu mythology.

Hanuman was born to the monkey queen Anjana and the wind god Vayu. From an early age, he demonstrated incredible strength and intelligence, and he quickly became known for his bravery and loyalty. He grew up in the forest, surrounded by other monkeys, and he spent his days playing and exploring with his friends.

As he grew older, His loyalty to Lord Rama became his defining characteristic. When Rama’s wife, Sita, was kidnapped by the demon king Ravana, Hanuman was one of the first to volunteer to help rescue her. He crossed the ocean, fought demons, and ultimately helped Rama to defeat Ravana and rescue Sita.

Hanuman is a large, muscular humanoid figure with the head of a monkey, standing at a height of 8 feet. His fur is reddish-brown and his eyes are bright and piercing. He has a long, prehensile tail and powerful arms and legs, capable of incredible feats of strength and agility. He wears a simple loincloth and a string of beads around his neck, and carries a mighty mace in his hand. His face is often wreathed in a mischievous grin, reflecting his playful nature.

Throughout his life, Hanuman’s devotion to Lord Rama remained unshakable. He is often depicted as a symbol of selfless service and devotion, and his story is an inspiration to many Hindus. He is revered as a powerful protector and a source of strength and courage, and his story continues to inspire people to this day.

Regional Effects

The region around a temple or holy site dedicated to Hanuman is imbued with divine energy. These effects last for 1 mile in every direction from the temple.

  • The region is considered difficult terrain for any creature hostile to Hanuman or his followers.
  • The region is covered in a thick mist that grants Hanuman and his followers advantage on Stealth checks.
  • Any creature hostile to Hanuman or his followers must make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw when entering the region. On a failed save, the creature is frightened for 1 minute.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Hanuman takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects:

  • He summons a swarm of celestial monkeys to fight for him. The swarm appears in an unoccupied space within 60 feet of Hanuman and acts immediately, rolling its own initiative. The swarm disappears after 1 minute or when reduced to 0 hit points.
  • He causes the ground to shake, creating difficult terrain in a 20-foot radius around him. Each creature on the ground within the area must succeed on a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.
  • Hanuman roars loudly, inspiring his allies. Until the start of his next turn, all friendly creatures within 60 feet of Him have advantage on attack rolls and saving throws.

Benefits

  • Clerics who follow him gain proficiency with maces and javelins.
  • His followers gain advantage on Stealth checks made while in forests or jungles.
