Baldric: A utilitarian piece of equipment that is also symbolic, the baldric is a type of belt of very decorative and ornamented leather that is worn across the chest and waist. It is usually used to support a sword, although it can also be used to hold a bugle or other type of military horn. Baldrics can become very decorative and, like sashes, be used to indicate an individual of important military rank or office.
